In our culture, we don't have the habit of reading books. I loved the idea of having novels recommended by the instructor to read throughout the semester. I never knew I would enjoy reading novels until I did. In our first novel " It’s Kind of a Funny Story" I got a better understanding of what depression was and why depressed people suffer. At least from now on I will never ask someone who suffers from depression why are you depressed ?

Integrated skills includes reading, listening, speaking, and writing. We have watched several Ted talks videos. The first was an amazing video named “ The Story Behind a Painting”. This video talked about how to have a deep connection with a painting through story. That was not something new, because I had always imagined a story behind people and places that surprised me.

Besides, I discovered my love for writing stories. Our final project was to write an ending for the novel “Its Kind of a Funny Story” after 1 year from where the writer reached. Also, I participated in the writing of our own novel "living the dream".

What I liked in the integrated skills projects is the team work. We worked all together to make a poster for example. The poster was about smoking and its negative effects on our health, finances, and life in general.
