Amon-Ra earned his Bachelor's Degree in English with a minor in education from Wittenberg University in 1998. Favorably for myself and my cohorts, Columbus Public Schools had just bought out a large section of retirement eligible teachers, and they were offering new jobs on the spot.
Besides mastery based learning, teaching enabled Amon-Ra to learn how to create grading scales based on mastery. Creating grading scales based on mastery made continuous engagement with the work more valuable for his students than simply earning a good grade. Creating mastery based classroom assignments also made it easier for him to use individual student data to determine individual student interventions.
In other areas, working as a teacher gave him an opportunity to develop a social classroom climate in our classroom that was based on peace making model.
