Working in the role of High School Counselor exposed Amon-Ra to Ohio's high school graduation requirements, to Ohio State Test Administration requirements, and to Ohio's SEL standards and implementation requirements, about IDEA law and compliance, to research that clarified the impact of trauma on learning and interpersonal relationship building. and how to partner with mental health agencies to better support student and staff mental well being.
These roles also gave Amon-Ra the opportunity to draft a 3-Tiered Graduation Pathway system that mapped out how students who just wanted to graduate from high school, students who wanted to get directly into a skilled trade or into a certificated profession, or who wanted to get an early start on earning an Associate's Degree could all graduate on time.
