Amon-Ra's experiences as an African-American citizen who was raised in the inner city, places him in a small sliver of the total U.S. population. His ubringing gave him an American experience that exposed him the complex nuances of Urban life. These nuances include both the knowledge of the core communication patterns of Urban citizens and first hand incidents of race bias (often subconscious) others project on Urban people. This breadth of experience and understanding, combined with an intent to bring about social justice for himself and for others, empowered him to execute a strike against race-based discrimination for an entire school district. In this regard, his work with the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division forced a central Ohio school district to ratify a Consent Agreement that has established a precedent in the field of public education. The Consent Agreement establishes two precedents for all U.S. Public School systems:
1. Individuals who see inequalities in their organizations and inform or act to change them are protected.
2. Organizations must become champions of claims of the individuals who bring these complaints to them.
You will find a link to the details behind the Consent Decree on the Department of Justice website below. Specifically, you will find the language of the complaint that led to the settlement, and the stipulations that the Consent Decree mandated.
