Academic Colleges

The Gerald D Hines College of Architecture houses the only undergraduate 5-year fixed program: the Architecture major degree plan. They offer showers and common areas for students who may overnight for their studio work.

• Each Architecture student works under a studio class for 10 semesters

The Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts is the newest undergraduate college and the only academic college named after a female alumnus. The college, a former branch of CLASS, houses our Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance programs.

• Advising: Fine Arts Building

• Theater, Dance, Music are audition-only majors

• Multiple performance/display venues (Opera House, Blaffer, Dudley, Wortham, etc.)

The C.T. Bauer College of Business is one of our premier institutions. With the Wolff Entrepreneurship program being nationally ranked in the top 10 since its inception, Bauer has built a reputation around it as a school that truly means business.

• All new admits are classified as "Pre-Business Adm."

The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences is our largest college on campus. They offer a special program called "CLASSmates" where students take a common political science and/or history course their first semester to help establish their intra-college community.

• Advisors frequently change locations to cover more area on campus

The College of Education houses three departments: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, and Psychological, Health, and Learning Sciences. Future educators earn their teaching certification alongside their studies.

• Educators intending grade 8-12 must major in their field of study and minor in education

The Cullen College of Engineering is among some of the most well-documented programs in the nation. Housing unique programs such as Sub-Sea engineering while still catering to the classics like chemical engineering, the Cullen's namesake continues to thrive.

Exploratory Studies is a temporary degree plan that allows students to take CORE classes while staying undeclared. They also work with advisors who will help them figure out a career path and major to declare and pursue.

• NOT a degree major

• Students must declare by the time they reach 60 credit hours (junior year), but are encouraged to declare before 30 credit hours.

The Conrad N. Hilton College of Hotel & Restaurant Management (HRM) is a work-study program that is world-ranked in hospitality. The hotel itself is fully functioning and students take classes while they accumulate work hours.

The College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (NSM) is the home to our many life sciences, statistics, and computer science majors and courses. They offer many entry-level math and science courses to help UH students knock out their CORE and sell lab equipment to students in need of them.

• Old Science Building is used as a greenhouse and storage room for NSM Students, Faculty, & Staff

The College of Technology is one of the oldest colleges on campus. Founded in 1941, it continues to serve the UH community and hands out numerous degrees to future technicians of our society.

• Advising: Numerous Locations

• 2nd oldest college

• Offers Dual-Certification programming

The Honors College provides a supportive small-college environment within a great metropolitan university. Through a challenging curriculum, students learn the skills they need for academic and professional success.

• Advising: Library (By the Rockwell Pavilion)

• Offers separate deree plans to supplement both the requirements of the Honors College and home college

• Must be admitted separate from UH alongside their general admission
