Travertine Cleaning Leighton Buzzard

This is a travertine cleaning project in Leighton Buzzard Bedfordshire

We were contacted because the floor was soiled and the grout particularly dirty.

The client regularly clenas the floor, but she could not get the floor as clean as she wanted.

The floor is made of tumbled travertine tiles, finished to a light sheen finish. Approximately half of the holes had been filled with grout. The other half of the holes were now filled with soil. The tiles had been sealed with an impregnaitng sealer.

The main reason for the soiling :

  • the natural holes in the travertine tiles had filled with soil

  • areas of deep set grout had filled with soil

  • parts of the grout lines and the grout filler had become stained

  • the grout was stained because the impregnating sealer did not stop mop slurrey soaking into the grout.

The main reason for the soiling is 2 household pets that have access to the garden.

I discussed the cleaning oprions with the client and recommended a deep clean, followed by filling the holes with new grout filler. Then sealing the floor with a toopical sealer. A topical sealer gives added protection and makes the gorut easier to clean.
