Limestone Cleaning Alvestone Stratford On Avon

his Limestone Cleaning Alveston project is about restoring a soiled and stained Limestone tile floor.

The floor has suffered quite a bit of wear and most of the sealer had worn away.

So my client was looking for a specialist limestone cleaning service covering Stratford On Avon.

Limestone Cleaning Alveston – Projet Details

Limestone tiles are installed in a kitchen and hallway in Alveston, which has suffered a lot of foot traffic.

I was asked to restore the Limestone tiled floors which had become an eyesore due to many black pits and dirty grout lines.

This is not an unusual problem for Limestone, it’s a very porous and Acid Sensitive natural stone.

It is not a good idea to use powerful cleaning products which are quite common in supermarkets.

They reduce the life of the sealer and can actually eat into the travertine.

Pitting is also common with this type of stone and easily traps dirt.

They were looking for a clean floor, that would continue to look clean and display the natural colours in the tiles, without having to scrub the Limestone on hands and knees.

I surveyed the floor and recommended a deep cleaning to restore the appearance of the stone.

I offered options of honing and polishing the floor and filling the cracks, but the client was not sure if they were keeping the floor.

So she just wanted a good clean and seal for the time being.

The homeowner agreed to my quote and we set a date to restore the Limestone.

Deep Cleaning a Limestone Tiled Kitchen Floor

On the day I arrived the customer had prepared the work area by removing all small items of furniture.

My first step in the Limestone cleaning process was to brush and vacuum the area to remove any loose debris.

After testing, I could see that the Limestone did not have much if any sealer on it.

I then applied a dilution of Limestone cleaner focusing on the heavily soiled areas and grout lines and then left to soak in for ten minutes.

I scrubbed the Limestone using a rotary scrubbing machine with a medium scrubbing brush and cleaning pads.

I removed the cleaning slurry using our pressurised rinse and capture equipment.

I repeated the cleaning until the soil and old sealer residues were removed.

Sealing Limestone Tiles In Alveston.

We offer a number of Limestone sealing options for this flooring type.

Giving a matt, satin or gloss finish

After discussing the options, the customer decided on a  matt finish impregnating sealer.

My client was certainly impressed with the improvement and was delighted with the results.

Thanks so much, the floor is looking great!

Limestone Maintenance Advice

Sealers protect your tiles from staining and enhance their appearance, however, they do wear down over time.

This is when dirt can become ingrained in the pores of the tile, so if you do want to keep your stone floor looking its best, ensure there is always a good coating of sealer.

If you have a stone floor in Stoke-On-Trent or the surrounding area that you need help with,  I’ll be happy to help.
