Rab Paterson was the last Director of the Asia Association for Global Studies and was teaching for the Toyo University's International Affairs Office/Center for Global Education and Exchange Business English Communication (BEC) program jointly ran with the UCLA Extension Center for Global Education. Rab was also a member of the editorial board of the AAGS's Asia Journal for Global Studies, and is a Fellow of the British Royal Asiatic Society (RAS), a Fellow of The Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce (RSA), a member of the Board of Directors of the RSA’s Japan Fellows Network (Communications, Marketing & PR), a member of the Japan Association for Language Teaching’s Technical Advisory Committee, and held memberships in many other educational technology / professional teaching associations. He has a BA (Hons.) in Pacific Asian History and an MA in Pacific Asian Area Studies from the University of London’s SOAS, a Certificate of Educational Technology and Information Literacy and an MS in Multidisciplinary Studies from SUNY (Buffalo's) Graduate Programs for Educators, and an MEd in Practitioner Research from University College London’s Institute of Education. His publications range from peer-reviewed academic journal papers, conference proceedings, academic book chapters, organisational newsletter articles, and he has presented at many international academic conferences worldwide including Keynote, Plenary and Featured Speaker sessions, as well as two TEDx presentations. He’s an Apple Distinguished Educator, an Apple Certified Teacher, a Google Innovator, Google Certified Trainer, and was a Google Educator Group Leader for the West Tokyo GEG (the first GEG in Japan). He now lives in a semi self-built, eco-friendly, sustainable lifestyle log-house of his own design in the foothills of the Japan Alps with his family, and their two dogs!
