has utilised `Crazy' Mohan's inimitable ingenuity in comic dialogue as wonderfully as Kamal Haasan has. Sri Rajlakshmi Film's " Panchathanthiram" is another example. Save Suresh Krissna's "Aha", which had `Crazy's dialogue as its strongpoint, be it "Apoorva Sagodharargal" or "Thenali", "Pammal K. Sambandham" or the latest "Panchathanthiram", it has been a hilarious Crazy-Kamal combo all the way. The inspiration could have come from anywhere but the treatment is purely desi. With story by Kamal Haasan and screenplay and direction by K. S. Ravikumar, "Pancha... " is completely entertaining ... in the first half. Towards the end however it turns into a quagmire where confusion reigns supreme. In the process, characters such as those of Manivannan and Ramesh Kanna appear rather vague. The quartet comprising Ayyappan Nair (Jayaram), Hegde (Ramesh Arvind), Reddy (Sriman) and Vedantham (Yugi Sethu) — take their friend Ram (Kamal) to Bangalore for his birthday. They plan to make him forget his estranged wife Mythili (Simran), and goad him into having a nice time with the vamp Maggie (Ramya Krishnan). Things turn awry and the fivesome end up with a corpse on their hands. Maggie and her accomplices are also behind them for a different purpose. How the friends extricate themselves from the imbroglio is told in a sometimes funny, sometimes confusing fashion. Kamal's adeptness at comedy comes to the fore in "Panchathanthiram". With suitable slapstick, apt body language and timing and modulation that tickle, the veteran makes a mark yet again. And if experience shows age does too. You see more of Simran's midriff than ever before. Ramya Krishnan has a plum role and the actress has done ample justice to it. Her sustained youthfulness is simply amazing. The four spouses, that include Urvasi, Aishwarya (her voice could have been dubbed) and Sanghavi, have nothing much to do. In fact, you feel that even Jayaram should have had more scope to perform, like in "Thenali". The group's volte-face in the climax only evokes a grimace. But all of them, including Nagesh, have performed well within the given ambit. Ram's adorable baby and the Nair's fat son are other notable attractions. Devyani's short role is a pleasant surprise ... the actress proves she is good at comedy too. The speed at which Yugi Sethu speaks is only too well known — audible yet hardly intelligible. But in "Pancha ... " it helps to enhance the humour of the situations and thus proves a plus point. A couple of Deva's tunes are hum-worthy. A welcome change about the duets is that, at least on and off, you see the lead pair walking down the streets in a natural manner in foreign lands and not always indulging in acrobatics in the name of dance, in the midst of nowhere. Be it "Aalavandhan" the colossus that misfired or "Pammal ... " the medium runner, Kamal's two earlier ventures (excluding "Thenali") were probably no great money-spinners. But "Panchathanthiram" could be a case of the hero turning lucky this time. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - The Metro line proposed from Nagawara to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) is likely to be realigned to run through Hebbal. The realignment is being considered by the state as well as Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) due to the presence of a high-pressure Bengaluru-Mangaluru petroleum pipeline passing through the originally proposed route, thereby ruling out any construction activity in its vicinity, said highly placed sources. As per the original Detailed Project Report of the Phase-2B Metro line, the 29.62-km line was to begin at Nagawara, head to RK Hedge Nagar via Thanisandra Main Road. It was to then turn left to Jakkur Flying School and take the Ballari Main Road to terminate at the airport. The Rs 5,950-crore line was approved by the state cabinet on December 11, 2017, and was slated have six stations — R K Hegde Nagar, Jakkur, Yelahanka (Kogilu Cross) and Chikkajala apart from two stations inside KIA. The 21.25-km Gottigere-Nagawara line (red line), which has the longest underground corridor of Phase-II, will connect with the airport line when ready. “The new proposal suggests taking the line directly from Nagawara station via Outer Ring Road to Hebbal and then taking Ballari Main Road right up to Jakkur Flying School. From there, the alignment will remain the same as the original plan,” said a source. Explaining the reasons for the sudden change in alignment long after it had been approved, a source said, “There are practical problems. The presence of the high-pressure petroleum pipeline which passes between Hegde Nagar and the flying school has forced this rethink. Due to safety regulations, no construction can come up for up to 9 metres on either side of the pipeline.” There is a major water pipeline too which is in the way, but some kind of arrangement can be worked out for that. “The petroleum pipeline cannot be touched,” the source explained. If the proposal is approved by the Cabinet, then a Metro station will come up at Hebbal instead of RK Hegde Nagar. Pressed for details on the revised cost or length of the Metro line, an official said, “The distance will be almost the same. We are still working out other details. It will be made public by the government when it is all completed.”As per both the old and new plan, the Metro line will mostly be elevated barring a small section near the Yelahanka air force station where it will run at ground level and then continue as an elevated line. Taking a different route ¦ No construction can be taken up on either side of high-pressure petroleum pipeline running through original Metro route ¦ Metro station will come up at Hebbal instead of R K Hegde Nagar ¦ Distance to airport will be almost the same as originally planned ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- LG 55-inch 4K smart LED TV The LG 55-inch 4K smart LED TV is again available at a discounted price of Rs. 74,990 (MRP Rs. 101,990) on Amazon right now. It's long but pls read it. It was about eight o’clock when her son who was asthmatic developed some complications. He had to be rushed to the nearest hospital about 1km away or else it would be fatal. She called a neighbor who had a car but the neighbor said the car had no fuel; she called the pastor who said he had visiting pastors from USA and could not leave them alone. She decided to carry the son to the hospital; she could not imagine loosing her only child to the same sickness that had killed the husband few years earlier. She had a problem with her leg and could not move fast enough and the son was also heavy for her to move faster. Along the way she met people rushing home from work who just stared at her. She tried to beg them for help but they assumed her. She also tried to stop passing vehicles but they never responded. She fell many times but she had to keep moving. Then a man who was mad and used to roam the streets Unclad noticed her. He came running towards her and took the son from her. She could not talk but just pointed the direction of the hospital. The crazy Unclad man could understand perfectly well what she meant since he saw the desperate boy struggling for breath. He put him on the shoulder and told the woman “all will be well” as he ran towards the hospital. The doctors on seeing the crazy man knew something was really wrong, they attended to the boy immediately. Ten minuteslater the mother arrived and the doctor broke the news “if he was brought five Minutes later, he would have died” . God doesn’t have to use Bishops, Pastors, family, politicians & rich people with cars to rescue or bless you. No matter what may come your way, no matter what you are going through, your life is in His hands & He has good thoughts for you. I know you will make it. For there is a friend in God who will wipe away your tears. The Word says for with GOD all things are possible! SHARE After Reading..The instructions are to pick four people that You want God to bless. I pick you. Please pass this to at least four people you want to pray for and a copy back to me. This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's always pray for one another. The prayer: God, Thank You for each and every day You have blessed us here on earth. Thank You for Your tender mercies. Thank You for giving us friends and family to share these joys with. I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those I care deeply for who are reading this right now. Where there is joy, give them continued joy, Where there is pain, give them your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence. Where there is need, fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. (If you choose to send this to more than four people, you are truly blessed to have such friends. God told me to tell you that everything you're going through is taken care of. If you believe in Him send to 8 people. And in 53 ??secs watch who calls.) 07/06/17, 16:21 - jl13-arihant-advt-send-murali-mama-relative-chennai-salem-bsnl: <Media omitted> 07/06/17, 16:43 - nov17-viji chikkamma-london-relative-chennai: Nice Superb. 07/06/17, 16:46 - nov17-venugopal venu mama-chennai-kknagar-dubai-nri-relative: *?????? ?????? ????? ???? Ju Ba Ju Ba, Heavy reader of many subjects, Internet philosopher. Updated 8h ago Unlikely. Stephen hawking proposes that if aliens came they would almost certainly be hostile, and absolutely would wipe us out if they were. He bases this assumption upon a well thought out line of reasoning; Technology = large brain = large energy demand = large calorial intake = carnivore = predatory species = hostile instincts = murder all humans. Its not far fetched, and certainly a possibility. And make no mistake, if an alien species were hostile it wouldnt be humans vs aliens a la` 'Independence day', it would be more like Roman Legions vs F-22s and M1A1s. It would be quick, decisive, and very bad for us. I would go a different direction, however. Yes, I believe ALL of those points are accurate. However, I believe there are a few missing crucial steps. We arent just talking about technology, but A LOT of advanced tech. For these things to happen you need the exact set of circumstances necessary to not only provide a species capable of producing this tech, but also keeping the species alive long enough to do it. Barring meteor strikes, disease, famine, etc, there is war. Yes, they would probably have a violent past, including war. But like us, they would achieve a level of technological advancement capable of wiping themselves out. To prevent doing this requires a U-social species such as us. And to achieve the level of technology required for long distance interstellar travel requires a species-wide degree of unity. This means that while they were at one point predatory and aggressive, they most likely got to a point where they became unified as a species; transcending their violent nature as a necessity for continued survival. With this comes a degree of compassion and respect for life. If they were desperate for a resource and only earth had it, we would be in trouble. But for every life-harboring planet theres most likely hundreds of millions that have none. It would be far easier and more politically correct for them to go elsewhere than to initiate mass genocide, and then risk exposure to foreign microbes. Is it possible that they would detonate a planet-wide EMP, watch us destroy ourselves, starve, collapse our society and military command structures within days, and then come in and wipe us out with almost no losses? Sure. But while a scientific mind deviates toward 'we'd be screwed' a historically oriented mindset realises that such a predilection toward violence would
collapsing upon itself due to internal struggles several thousand years before even developing the tech to arrive. This mindset also makes it abundantly clear the path we are on as well. At some point we, as a species, will have to abandon free will in order to become a truly unified species and earn our place among the stars, or some dustant generation will bear witness as we cannibalize our society in favor of personal interest. Edit: Wow, never expected to exceed 100k views, my most by a large margin. Thank you everyone! There are two comments I wanted to discuss; Pat Baron made mention of my ‘roman legions vs modern military weapons’ comparison. I used this as an example exclusively to put into perspective the technological difference between 2,000 years of history; the difference between the Roman and space eras. I wrote in another answer that extraterrestrial life is a question of not if, but when, and Pat makes a point that I failed to clarify: with exponential technological growth it is entirely possible we are talking about a Kardashev III civilization. If that degree of civilization designated us for termination it would be more akin to using a hydrogen bomb to kill the bacteria on your counter-tops, than legions vs tanks. But in reality it stands to reason that as the advancement of a civilization increases, the less likely they would be hostile. A Kardashev III civilization would probably just ignore us, as to them even rudimentary dialogue would be akin to reading 'The Phenomenology of the Spirit' to a tadpole, resplendent in its ignorance. Could they destroy us? Absolutely, however is there a reason to do so other than sheer malice? Perhaps, as ‘Alan Hall' -another commenter- noted; could violence be a result of religious fervor, or a perceived degree of superiority? Maybe they kill us just because they believe they are the chosen ones? Indeed, you can never comprehend the machinations of a perceived alien foe. However, to me it becomes clear that both their willingness to do us harm or even make simple contact are likely inversely proportional to their level of technological and social advancement. I never said that open hostilities were impossible, I just believe that upon analysis it seems the reasons supporting genocide dwindle. The most dangerous alien foe would be one precisely where we are at socially, theologically, technologically, religiously, etc. If you gifted such a race interstellar passage to earth I would almost guarantee war. However, just like us, they would most likely be a far greater danger to themselves than a handful of Homo Sapiens on a little blue rock however many lightyears away. 25/05/17, 09:45 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 09:47 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 09:49 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 09:53 - customerelakshya: visit to mysore in 2014 - google maps - https://www.google.com/maps/d/embed?mid=10e8e_X9sgJxLy_idrxxst2pHp2A 25/05/17, 09:56 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 10:20 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 10:31 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 10:32 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 10:45 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 10:46 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 12:37 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 17:05 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 22:13 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 25/05/17, 22:14 - customerelakshya: great talk by faye dsouza 26/05/17, 07:48 - sep17-frd-ops-mgr-harish pv-close-friend-fz: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 07:51 - customerelakshya: harisa sir - i actually dont know much abt gst. wud be great if u could send a small article about it. i cud then fwd to folks 26/05/17, 07:59 - sep17-frd-ops-mgr-harish pv-close-friend-fz: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:00 - customerelakshya: great da - thanks ! - will put it online for all 26/05/17, 08:00 - mohan-pichuraman-friend-usa: GST is for bad or ok kind? 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:02 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:03 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 08:04 - mohan-pichuraman-friend-usa: Is this called pirichchi meyaradhu 26/05/17, 08:08 - customerelakshya: my experience has shown me that unless u put things to people for imm consumption, it gets unnoticed / unread. eg pdf file - u hv to download to ur desktop, then use some pdf reader to locate the file and then open. makkal have become v lazy nowadays, u see 26/05/17, 13:58 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 15:12 - feb18-kg raman-raman kg - mumbai-mahindra: You should defy this feedback from google the moment this thought came to you it means you can do better, so please try sub 70 next time, all the best 26/05/17, 16:34 - customerelakshya: <Media omitted> 26/05/17, 16:38 - customerelakshya: nice letter from the housejoy ceo Hi Sathish, I’m Saran, CEO at Housejoy. Never Forget "E-shwar ( God )" who makes e-verything e-asy for e-veryone e-veryday. "E" is the most Eminent letter of the English alphabet. Men or Women don't exist without "E". House or Home can't be made without "E". Bread or Butter can't be found without "E". "E" is the beginning of "existence" and the end of "trouble." It's not at all in 'war' but twice in 'peace'. It's once in 'hell' but twice in 'heaven'. "E" represented in 'Emotions' Hence, all emotional relations like Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, wife & friends have 'e' in them. "E" also represents 'Effort' & 'Energy' Hence to be 'Better' from good both "e" 's are added. Without "e", we would have no love, life, wife, friends or hope & 'see', 'hear', 'smell', or 'taste' as 'eye' 'ear', 'nose' & 'tongue' are incomplete without "e". Regardless of religion, see how beautiful what Pope Francis wrote about the family. An evangelizing spirit in deed. FAMILY, PLACE OF FORGIVENESS ... There is no perfect family. We do not have perfect parents, we are not perfect, we do not marry a perfect person or have perfect children. We have complaints from each other. We disappoint each other. So there is no healthy marriage or healthy family without the exercise of forgiveness. Forgiveness is vital to our emotional health and spiritual survival. Without forgiveness the family becomes an area of conflict and a stronghold of hurt. Without forgiveness, the family becomes ill. Forgiveness is the a sepsis of the soul, the cleaning of the mind and the liberation of the heart. Whoever does not forgive does not have peace in the soul nor communication with God. Hurt is poison that intoxicates and kills. Keeping heartache in the heart is a self-destructive gesture. It's autophagy. Those who do not forgive are physically, emotionally and spiritually ill. That is why the family must be a place of life, not of death; Territory of cure and not of illness; Stage of forgiveness and not guilt. Forgiveness brings joy where sorrow has produced sadness; Healing, where sorrow has caused disease. - Pope Francisco Please send to all the families you know. This could help to quench some raging battles . 28/05/17, 20:54 - sep17-frd-ops-mgr-harish pv-close-friend-fz: A speech in the United Nations Assembly that made the world community smile..... A representative from India began: "Before beginning my speech, I want to tell you a very very old story about Rishi Kashyap of Kashmir, after whom Kashmir is named. When he found a beautiful lake, he thought- "What a good opportunity to have a bath", He removed his clothes, put them aside on the rock and entered the water. When he got out and wanted to dress, his clothes had vanished. A Pakistani had stolen them! The Pakistani representative in the Assembly jumped up and furiously shouted, "what r u talking about? The Pakistanis weren't there then." Indian representative smiled and said, "And now that we have made that clear, I'll begin my speech. "And they (Pakistan) say Kashmir belongs to them". Everybody laughed. Being an Indian, I simply love this msg.. How did Tamil people settle at Dharavi, Mumbai? Vinayaka Murthy Vinayaka Murthy, studied at Mumbai, Maharashtra, India Answered May 24 Why around 50 percent population of Dharavi is Tamil? Ans : Varadarajan Mudhaliar A short Intro and how he became a gangster Varadarajan Mudhaliar was born in 1926 in Tamil Nadu and moved to Mumbai to feed himself like many people in south india (note that, in those days south india is not as developed as it is now). He initially worked as a porter in the harbour and was involved in various smuggling activities. He slowly grew into a big time smuggler but he didn't have any police/political protection. Once he smuggled some TV antenna that is meant for Ministry for Information and the police obviously suspected him and arrested him for enquiry. He didnt give any information about it to the police and the police were not in a mood to take "no" for an answer. During this time the famous Haji Mastan (another Tamilian and a big shot smuggler) came for Varadarajan's rescue because he needed some muscle power in his smuggling kingdom. The two guys struck a deal and Haji Mastan convinced him that he will be released from the clutches of the police and in return Varadarajan should help Haji Mastan in his smuggling. These two guys along with Karim Lala controlled entire Mumbai and they are highly feared by the people. These three were the powerful dons of Mumbai before the likes of Dawood, chotta rajan and Abu salim. During those days the lives of gangsters was not as bloody as it was in during Dawood's time. Elaborate Answer : Varadharajan's base area is Dharavi. In mid 1970's, a liquor ban was imposed in Mumbai. Whenever there is a word called "ban", there will be a new word called "smuggling" . Varadarajan's primary business was producing and selling liquor illegally . He recruited many south indians and made them stay in Dharavi and produce illegal liquor. The beauty of this plan is that the liquor was produced and stored in resedential houses in Dharavi and the police had no clue about this. Varadharajan made lot of money due to this and the south indians of Dharavi were grateful for getting a living and were very honest to him. During this time many Tamil people came to Dharavi and settled there. This is the reason behind the high Tamil population in Dharavi. Tamil movie Nayakan(Nayakan (1987)) is roughly based on the good deeds of Varadarajan. In the world of social media, he assumed that everyone except him is doing exceedingly well for themselves and he is the only loser on earth. He probably posted about his suicide on social media hoping to taste some success and become famous. He longed for success, but had to kill himself for it. Sadly, he did not live to see how famous he has become. I was moved by the news. In a life connected to smartphones, I believe youngsters need a reality check about what real life is, what success is, and how it can be achieved. What happens on social media is virtual, but what you do with your life is real. Moving your fingers is far easier than rolling up your sleeves and getting to work. This difference needs to be understood. When youngsters are depressed and feel suicidal, they are thinking of their life in short term. They believe that their life is going to end up being what it is today - forever. But that is far from truth. When you are depressed at 20, you forget that you will be alive for the next 60 years. If you lose 2 years to depression - what the heck! You still have 58 years to resurrect yourself. Here are 4 examples that come to my mind of people who resurrected themselves out of failure - Remember the guy who was slapped by people on a railway station for picking Sunil Dutt's wallet in Munnabhai MBBS? That was Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Nawaz graduated from NSD and was forced to work as a cook and a security guard because he had no work and no money. How many of you are willing to do that as a part of your struggle to succeed? Did he feel depressed about it then? So what did he do? And where is he today? Nawaaz kept trying. Trying hard. Finally a casting director suggested his name to Sujoy Ghosh, who was directing Kahaani. Sujoy himself was battling 2 flops while making Kahaani. He offered Nawaz an important role of an IB official. Nawaaz got a small opportunity to make it big in Bollywood. After years of failure, he precisely knew what that small opening could do for his career. And boy did he deliver? For his role in Kahaani, Nawaaz walked away with a National Award. That was the beginning. Today he is perhaps the rare few actors in Bollywood who has worked with all the three Khans in a span of 3 years. He makes crores and lives like a King. Failure was the foundation of Nawaz's success. In 2007 World Cup, when India was knocked out of the WC Qualifiers, Sachin Tendulkar cried in the dressing room. He announced to many of his fellow cricketers that he wants to retire. Sachin lost his nerve when faced with such a colossal failure, for the first time in his life. He probably feared coming back to India and facing his fans, friends, and family. Vivian Richards got to know about Sachin's state of mind. He called and spoke to him for 1 hour. An invigorated Sachin went back to his rigorous training. In the next 5 years, he reached 100 centuries, became the highest run getter in Test and ODIs, won the World Cup and had millions of people crying for him when he retired at Wankhede. He got a send-off no cricketer has ever had in the history of the game. He became a legend because he refused to bow down to failure. A chat with someone who Sachin respected and idolised, turned around his career and life. Tony Hseih was 24, when he made $265 million selling his startup to Microsoft. He lived like a king and blew up all his money on parties, houses, cars and bad investments. He lost everything. One day with no money in his pockets, he was literally on the roads. That night he met a guy who told him about an idea of selling shoes online. Who buys shoes online??? A bankrupt Tony Hseih loved the idea, took a loan, and invested in the startup. They called it Zappos. Less than a decade later, Hseih sold the company for 1.2 billion dollars to Amazon. From $265 million to bankruptcy to $1.2 billion. He later wrote a book called Delivering Happiness and divided it into 3 chapters - Profits, Passion and Purpose. That is the sequence in which he discovered himself in life. Hseih proves that no money is not the end of life. It is a state of life from where the only way you go is up. As a struggler, music director Naushad slept on the footpath opposite Broadway cinema. 16 years later he stood there for the premiere of his movie Baiju Bawara. Tears started flowing from his eyes as he saw the footpath that he slept on, from the other side. When asked why he was crying, a weeping Naushad said, "I can't believe it took me 16 years to cross this road." Persistence ultimately. paid, even if it took 16 years. Did these guys ever feel depressed? Probably they did. Did they cry over it? Yes. People cry when they fail. They feel anxious, lonely and sad. But did they continue to sit back and do nothing about it? They didn't. They picked up the pieces and stood up again. They refused to believe that because they failed now, they are destined to fail forever. They fought back hard until the time destiny could no longer influence their future. And because they did, they ended up writing their future the way they wanted it to be. Let's inculcate the mantra of perseverance, patience and performance in youngsters minds. Dr A Jagan Mohan Reddy The point is life does not stop with failure. There is no successful person on earth who has not seen failure or been depressed about it. The journey to success begins with failure. Therefore they say, failure is the best teacher. Because it teaches you what not to do, so that you can focus on what to do. Failure happens because each one of us are different, and life offers several opportunities for us to discover our personal formula of success. Which is why they say there is no magic formula for success. You have to earn it the hard way. Nobody else can do it for you. The problem is many of us are not ready for a long haul. We give up. 31/05/17, 13:39 - customerelakshya: moga - can u msg me priya's wap no ? and how are kavya and the other one doing ? 31/05/17, 16:00 - customerelakshya: *am going for this meeting - amazon web services * Amazon Web Services Big Data Roadshow - Build highly scalable and secure Big Data applications fast. "This bird doesn't talk,”she told the owner.Does he have a mirror in his cage?”he asked. "Parrots love mirrors. They see their reflection and start a conversation.” The woman bought a mirror and left. The next day she returned; the bird still wasn't talking. "How about a ladder? Parrots love ladders. The happy parrot is a talkative parrot.” The woman bought a ladder and left. But the next day, she was back. "Does your parrot have a swing? No? Well, that’s the problem. Once he starts swinging, he’ll talk up a storm.” The woman reluctantly bought a swing and left. When she walked into the store the next day, her countenance had changed. "The parrot died,”she said. The pet store owner was shocked. I’m so sorry. Tell me, did he ever say anything? he asked. Yes, right before it died,”the woman replied. "In a weak voice, it asked me, ‘Don’t they sell any food at that pet store?’" Sometimes we forget what’s really important in life. His daughter, Sara, said,"Daddy, its unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank.. Other fathers' that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; even this house we live in is a rented apartment.. Sorry, I can't emulate you, just go, let's chart our own course.Few moments later, their father gave up the spirit.Three years later, Sara went for an interview in a multinational company. At interview the Chairman of the committee asked,"Which Smith are you..??" Sara replied,"I am Sara Smith. My Dad Tom Smith is now late.." Chairman cuts in,"O my God, you are Tom Smith's daughter..?" He turned to the other members and said,"This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Administrators and his recommendation earned me where I am today. He did all these free. I didn't even know his address, he never knew me. He just did it for me.." He turned to Sara,"I have no questions for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, come tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you.." Sara Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two Cars with Drivers, A duplex attached to the office, and a salary of £1,00,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs.. After two years of working in the company, the MD of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after, again the company's Consultant nominated Sara Smith.. In an interview, she was asked the secret of her success,With tears, she replied, "My Daddy paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but strikingly rich in integrity, discipline and honesty". She was asked again, why she is weeping since she is no longer a kid as to miss her dad still after a long time.. She replied, "At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn't work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in". So, finally she was asked, "Will you follow your father's foot steps as he requested ?" And her simple answer was, "l now adore the man, I have a big picture of him in my living room and at the entrance of my house. He deserves whatever I have after God". It pays to build a name, the reward doesn't come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer.. Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God makes a man wealthy, not the fat bank account.. 31/05/17, 17:01 - customerelakshya: *A story in one of the schools in Bangalore where admission is considered impossible!!!* To get UKG admission. The child could not understand why they brought her there. When we all were standing, the school principal started to converse with the child....yes...in English only! This is one of the most memorable interview I have ever witnessed in my life.. Here goes.. "What's your name?" "Sita" "Good. Tell me something you know" "I know many things. Tell me what you want...!" Alas, there is no better point for not getting the admission! Sita's mother was trying to make up the situation but the principal stopped her.. Turning to child, she said.. "Tell any rhyme or story which you know.." Again,"Which one you want.. Rhyme or Story!?" "Ok. Plz tell me a story.." "Do uou want to hear what I studied or what I wrote..!?" Taken to surprise, she asked "Oh! you write stories...???" "Why should I not write..?" Now even I was taken aback But she was impressed with the answer. She ( including us) would have not heard such a story in our life... Ok, tell me story which you have written-? Sita said ,One day "Ravanan kidnapped Sita & took her to Srilanka" The opening scene failed to impress but still she encouraged the child to continue.. "Rama asked Hanumans help to rescue Sita. Hanuman too agreed to help Rama ..." "Then?" "Now, Hanuman called his friend Spider man." No one expected this twist in the story!! "Why?" "Because there are lot of mountains between India and Srilanka.. but if we have Spiderman we can go easily with his rope..." "But Hanuman can fly isn't it.. ?" "Yes. But he is having Sanjeevi Mountain on one hand so he cannot fly very fast.!" All is quiet, after a while Sita asked "Should I continue or not?.". "Ok plz continue!" "Hanuman and Spiderman flew to Srilanka and rescued Sita. Sita said Thanks to both!" "Why" "When you are helped you should say Thanks!" So Sita requested Hanuman to call Hulk..." All were surprised. She realized our curiosity and said " Now Sita is there, so to take her safely back to Rama she called Hulk" "What??? "Hanuman can carry Sita right?" "Yes. But he has Sanjeevi Mountain in one hand and has to hold spider man on the other" No one could control thier smiles. " So when they all started to India they met my friend Akshay! " "How come Akshay there now?" "Because its my story and I can bring any one there!" The principal didn't get angry but waited for the next twist. Then all started to India and landed at Bangalore majestic bus stop! Now I asked,"Why they have landed In majestic bus stop? "Because they forgot the way..& Hulk got an idea and called Dora!" I came to know about Dora only there...! "Dora came and she took Sita to malleshwaram 5th cross ..... that's all!" She finished the story with a smile. The principal asks "Why malleshwaram 5th cross...?" "Because sita lives there & i am Sita!!!" The principal was impressed and embraced the child. She has been admitted in UKG & was gifted with a Dora doll... Kids can really amaze... but we clip their wings (creativity) expecting them to do things as we see it right & not from their viewpoint. Let's give every child freedom to do their own thing & watch their dreams come true... Supervision required but not to kill the creativity inside. Her soul arrived at the Pearly Gates, where St.Peter welcomed her. “Before you get settled in” he said, “We have a little problem…you see, we’ve never had a HR manager make it this far before and we’re not really sure what to do with you.” “Oh, I see,” said the woman, “can’t you just let me in?” “Well, I’d like to,” said St Peter, “But I have higher orders. We’re instructed to let you have a day in hell and a day in heaven, and then you are to choose where you’d like to go for all eternity.” “Actually, I think I’d prefer heaven”, said the woman. “Sorry, we have rules…” at which St. Peter put the HR manager into the downward bound elevator. As the doors opened in Hell she stepped out onto a beautiful golf course. In the distance was a country club; around her were many friends, past fellow executives, all smartly dressed, happy, and cheering for her. They ran up and kissed her on both cheeks, and they talked about old times. They played a perfect round of golf and afterwards went to the country club where she enjoyed a superb steak and lobster dinner. She met the Devil (who was actually rather nice) and she had a wonderful night telling jokes and dancing. Before she knew it, it was time to leave. Everyone shook her hand and waved goodbye as she stepped into the elevator. The elevator went back up to heaven where St. Peter was waiting for her. “Now it’s time to spend a day in heaven,” he said. So she spent the next 24 hours lounging around on clouds, playing the harp and singing; which was almost as enjoyable as her day in Hell. At the day’s end St. Peter returned. “So,” he said, “You’ve spent a day in hell and you’ve spent a day in heaven”. “You must choose between the two.” The woman thought for a second and replied: “Well, heaven is certainly lovely, but I actually had a better time in hell. I choose Hell.” Accordingly, St. Peter took her to the elevator again and she went back down to hell. When the doors of the elevator opened she found herself standing in a desolate wasteland covered in garbage and filth. She saw her friends dressed in rags, picking up rubbish and putting it in old sacks. The Devil approached and put his arm around her. “I don’t understand,” stuttered the HR manager, “The other day I was here, and there was a golf course, and a country club. We ate lobster, and we danced and had a wonderful happy time. Now all there is, is just dirty wasteland of garbage and all my friends look miserable.” The Devil simply looked at her and smiled, “Yesterday we were recruiting you, today you’re staff.” 31/05/17, 17:09 - customerelakshya: *PREPARE YOURSELF FOR A REVOLUTION IN FINANCIAL MARKETS* Recently, *Mr. Nandan Nilkeni*, a founder team member of Infosys and generator of the concept of Aadhar made a presentation on the impact Aadhar linked cell phone will create and revolutionize the market in general and finance market in particular in India / world is a worth watching clip. This WhatsApp revolution is going to take place in the world of finance making the concept of traditional banking and lending to go away. 4.We are moving from cash based society to cashless and digital society very very fast. Today India has more 900 million mobile users (More than 90 crores) which is a record in itself. The Aadhar when linked with the mobile set with IRIS authentication on will change the world we live in. 5.Today electronic clearing service NEFT-RTGS and IMPS have overtaken traditional payment system. With these 900 million mobile users, a mega trend is underway, which we are unable to apprehend. To put it in simple words, every mobile user will be an ATM. 6.When IRIS authentication (Biometric authentication linked with Aadhar server) will be on, the 900 million mobile users will be able to have online kyc, online authentication, online payment and online receipt on the basis of Unified Payment Interface (UPI). Smart phone will replace all type of debit and credit cards and Paytm like system will be fully operational. Physical cash to digital cash and digital cash to physical cash convertibility will be a game changer. Digital wallet and digital locker will revolutionize the security system. Enabling pear to pear payment system will do away many intermediaries and will be reimagining the infrastructure we have at present. 7.The whole process will lead to explosion of innovation, death of many businesses and birth of new ventures and business. India will become data scare to data rich country in five years in both, on consumer and business side. Credit process and credit appraisal will become obsolete and online loan payment will become possible. Think of 900 million people coming on one platform and remain connected!!! Almost all functions of the bank, government and taxation department will be done by Aadhar linked phones. This is even more important in the sense that IRIS authentication on cell phone is available only in India, no one has this system in the world!!! 8. This is not far away because IRIS authentication on cell phone has practically started and will become a mass reality soon. So prepare yourself to live in digitized India with absolute transparency, no paper work, no bureaucratic intervention, no tax terrorism and much much more. Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, said at Davos this year that in a world with a surfeit of AI and machine learning, “human values such as common sense and empathy will be scarce.” A finding by Sara Konrath at Michigan University shows that young people are becoming less empathic than ever; American College students showed a 48% decrease in empathic concern and a 34% drop in their ability to see other people’s perspectives. The figures indicate that precisely now, when our powers to engage with others could make the difference between ourselves and our automated counterparts, we are allowing our empathy muscles to atrophy. We are, to put it simply, disengaging. Some 87% of millennials admitted to missing out on a conversation because they were distracted by their phone. Ironically, in a world that is increasingly connected, we as individuals, as families, as a society, are becoming less connected. A Gallup poll shows that families eat together less and less, while51% of teens would rather communicate digitally than in person (even with friends). And 43% of 18-24 year-olds say that texting is just as meaningful as an actual conversation with someone over the phone. So at a time when we should be flexing our empathic muscles and becoming more emotionally intelligent we are actually dumbing down. We have become empathic slobs and this is a problem that needs to be addressed. MIT is one of the few institutions that understands the importance of honing its students’ emotional intelligence as well as their technical skills.Their undergraduates - soon to be the world’s elite technologists - can attend a “Charm School”, a long-running, tongue-in-cheek programme which includes advice on everything from when to make eye contact and how to kindly break bad news. MIT have hit on an invaluable point, realising the need to fill a crucial gap in their students’ educations. But by the time young people reach tertiary education it might already be too late. We need to build empathy into our entire education system and create corporate environments that value skills that have previously been labelled as “soft” add-ons. 31/05/17, 17:30 - customerelakshya: Once upon a time, there were two neighbors living next to each other. One of them was a retired teacher and another was an insurance agent who had a lot of interest in technology. Both of them had planted different plants in their garden. The retired teacher was giving a small amount of water to his plants and didn’t always give a full attention to them, while the other neighbor interested in technology, had given a lot of water to his plants and looked after them too well. The retired teacher’s plants were simple but looked good. The insurance agent’s plants were much fuller and greener. One day, during the night, there was a heavy rain and a wind due to a minor storm. Next morning, both of the neighbors came out to inspect the damage to their garden. The neighbor who was an insurance agent saw that his plants came off from the roots and were totally destroyed. But, the retired teacher’s plants were not damaged at all and were standing firm. The insurance agent neighbor was surprised to see it, he went to the retired teacher and asked, “We both grew the same plants together, I actually looked after my plants better than you did for yours, and even gave them more water. Still, my plants came off from the roots, while yours didn’t. How is that possible?” The retired teacher smiled and said, “You gave your plants more attention and water, but because of that they didn’t need to work themselves for it. You made it easy for them. While I gave them just an adequate amount of water and let their roots search for more. And, because of that, their roots went deeper and that made their position stronger. That is why my plants survived”. *moral story parenting* Moral: This story is about parenting where children are like plants. If everything is given to them, they will not understand the hard work it takes to earn those things. They will not learn to work themselves and respect it. Sometimes it’s best to guide them instead of giving them. Teach them how to walk, but let them follow their path. 31/05/17, 17:32 - customerelakshya: Service doesn't start when you have something to give; it blossoms naturally when you have nothing left to take. --Nipun Mehta When the student body of an elite private school in Silicon Valley was given the chance to vote on who would give their graduation address this year, they chose a man named Nipun Mehta. An unexpected choice for these teenagers, who belong to what Time magazine called the "Me Me Me Generation". Nipun's journey is the antithesis of self-serving. More than a decade ago, he walked away from a lucrative career in high-tech, to explore the connection between inner change and external impact. ServiceSpace, the nonprofit he founded, has now drawn over 450,000 members across the globe. In this electrifying address that garnered a standing ovation, he calls out the paradoxical crisis of disconnection in our hyper-connected world -- and offers up three powerful keys that hold the antidote.] Thank you Jennifer Gargano, Chris Nikoloff and the entire faculty at Harker. To you, the class of 2013, congratulations! I’m delighted to be with you on your special day, and it is a particular honor since I know you chose your speaker. So, graduation day is here and this once-in-a-lifetime milestone moment has arrived. In the words of Taylor Swift, I can tell how you’re feeling: “happy, free, confused, and lonely, miserable and magical at the same time.” Who would’ve thought we’d be quoting words of wisdom from Taylor Swift at your commencement. ?? Today, I’m here with some good news and bad news. I’ll give you the good first. You might be surprised to hear this, but you are about to step out into a world that’s in good shape -- in fact the best shape that that it’s ever been in. The average person has never been better fed than today. Infant mortality has never been lower; on average we’re leading longer, healthier lives. Child labor, illiteracy and unsafe water have ceased to be global norms. Democracy is in, as slavery is disappearing. People don’t have to work as hard to just survive. A bicycle in 1895 used to cost 260 working hours, today we’ve gotten that number down to 7.2. So, things are progressing. But I’m afraid that’s not the full story. You’ll want to brace yourselves, because this is the bad news part. This week, Time Magazine’s cover story labeled you guys as the “Me, Me, Me” generation; the week before, NY Times reported that the suicide rate for Gen X went up by 30% in the last decade, and 50% for the boomer generation. We’ve just learned that atmospheric carbon levels surpassed 400 PPM for the first time in human history. Our honeybee colonies are collapsing, thereby threatening the future of our food supply. And all this is just the tip of the iceberg. What we’re handing over to you is a world full of inspiring realities coupled with incredibly daunting ones. In other words: miserable and magical isn't just a pop-song lyric -- it's the paradox that you are inheriting from us. So, what do you do with that? I’m going to be honest -- I don’t really know. ?? I do know this, though: At the core of all of today's most pressing challenges is one fundamental issue: we have become profoundly disconnected. Rather ironic, considering that we live in an era where Facebook has spawned 150 billion “connections”, as we collectively shell out 4.5 billion likes on status updates, every single day. Yet, a growing body of science is showing what we already feel deep in our gut: we’re more isolated than ever before. The average American adult reports having just one real friend that they can count on. Just one. And for the first time in 30 years, mental health disabilities such as ADHD outrank physical ones among American children. Somehow we’ve allowed our relationship to gadgets and things to overtake our real-world ties. We’ve forgotten how to rescue each other. Yet, deep inside we all still have that capacity. We know we have it because we saw it at Sandy Hook, in the brave teachers who gave up their lives to save their students. We saw it during the Boston Marathon when runners completed the race and kept running to the nearest blood bank. We saw it just this week in Oklahoma when a waiter at a fast food chain decided to donate all his tips to the tornado relief efforts and triggered a chain of generosity. So we know that we can tap into our inner goodness when crisis strikes. But can we do it on a run-of-the-mill Monday? That’s the question in front of you. Will you, class of 2013 step up to rebuild a culture of trust, empathy and compassion? Our crisis of disconnection needs a renaissance of authentic friendship. We need you to upgrade us from Me-Me-Me to We-We-We. Reflecting on my own journey, there have been three keys that helped me return to a place of connection. I’d like to share those with you today, in the hope that perhaps it might support your journey. The First Key Is To Give: In the movie Wall Street -- which originally came out well before you guys were born -- there’s a character named Gordon Gekko whose credo in life reads: Greed is good. When I was about your age, Silicon Valley was in the seductive grip of the dot-com boom. It was a time when it was easy to believe that Greed was Good. But a small group of us had a different hypothesis: Maybe greed is good, but Generosity is better. We tested that hypothesis. When I started ServiceSpace, our first project was to build websites for nonprofits at no charge. We ended up building and gifting away thousands of sites, but that wasn’t our main goal. Our real purpose was to practice generosity. In the early days, the media was pretty sure we had a hidden agenda. "We're doing this just to practice giving with no strings attached," we said. The few who actually believed us didn’t think we could sustain it. The thing is -- we did. A decade later, when our work started attracting millions of viewers, entrepreneurs told us that we'd be crazy to not slap on ads or try to monetize our services. The thing is -- we didn't. We probably were a bit crazy. And when we started Karma Kitchen, people really thought "No way!" It was a restaurant where your check always read zero, with this note: "Your meal is paid for by someone before you, and now it’s your chance to pay it forward." The thing is -- 25 thousand meals later, the chain continues in several cities around the globe. People consistently underestimate generosity, but human beings are simply wired to give. In one study at Harvard, scientists surprised a couple hundred volunteers with an unexpected monetary reward and gave them the choice of keeping it or giving it away. The only catch was that they had to make the decision spontaneously. Lo and behold, the majority chose --- to give away the money! Greed, it turns out, is a calculated after thought. Our natural instinct is, and always has been -- to give. When you take Econ 101 in college, you will learn that all of economics is rooted in the assumption that people aim to maximize self-interest. I hope you don’t just take that for granted. I hope you challenge it. Consider the likes of Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. and Mother Teresa who have rocked the history of our planet with the exact opposite assumption, with the belief in the goodness of our human nature. Or consider Ruby Bridges. Six-year-old Ruby was the first African American girl to go to an all-white school on Nov 14, 1960. All the teachers refused to teach her, except for one Mrs. Henry. Ruby received constant death threats and on the way to class every day, people would line up to shout and throw things. Mrs. Henry instructed Ruby to not speak to anyone, as she crossed the jeering crowds every day. But one day, she saw Ruby saying something, so she said, “Ruby, I told you not to speak to anyone.” “No, Mrs. Henry, I didn’t say anything to them.” “Ruby, I saw you talking. I saw your lips moving.” “Oh, I was just praying. I was praying for them,” Ruby responded. Then she recited her prayer, and I quote “Please, God, try to forgive these people. Because even if they say those bad things, they don’t know what they’re doing.” A six year old! Wishing well for those who were wishing her harm. How generous is that? And what does it say about the power of the human heart? Our capacity to love is a currency that never runs out. May each of you tap into that generous ocean and discover every day, what it means to give. The Second Key Is To Receive: When we give, we think we are helping others. That's true, but we are also helping ourselves. With any act of unconditional service, no matter how small, our bio-chemistry changes, our mind quiets, and we feel a sense of gratefulness. This inner transformation fundamentally shifts the direction of our lives. A couple summers ago, we had two 14-year-olds, Neil and Dillan, interningat ServiceSpace. One of their projects was a 30 day kindness challenge -- they had to come up with and do a different act of kindness every day for a month. In the beginning they had to plan "kindness activities", but slowly they learned how to spontaneously turn their daily life into a canvas for giving. Doing the dishes for mom without her asking, stopping to help a stranger with a flat tire, standing up for a bullied kid, gifting all their winnings at the arcade to a child. Very quickly, kindness shifted from being an activity -- to a way of life. It wasn't just about who they were helping, it was about who they themselves were becoming through the process. Last weekend, I happened to see Neil after a while, the day after Senior Prom and he had a story to share, "Last night I noticed that the dance floor was too small and a few of the special needs students just couldn't get on. So I grabbed a bunch of my friends, and we started dancing in a little circle around them. Everyone had a great time." Then, he paused for a reflective moment, and asked me, "But I felt so good about doing that. Do you think I was being selfish?" What a profound question. What Neil experienced was the fact that when we give, we receive many times over. Or as the Dalai Lama once put it, "Be Selfish, Be Generous.” It is in giving that we receive. When we think of generosity, we typically think of it as a zero sum game. If I give you a dollar, that’s one less dollar for me. The inner world, though, operates with an entirely different set of rules. The boundaries aren’t so easy to decipher. Your state of being inherently affects my state of being. This isn’t feel-good talk. It’s actual science. Research shows that, in close proximity, when people feel connected,
