The Final Grades Analysis Tool is designed to help school leaders and student support teams assess, in real time, how close students are to ending the school year passing as many courses as possible. Note that all grade and summary counts displayed in the dashboard are current as of the previous calendar day, giving schools timely information to guide interventions.
Schools should utilize this tool to supplement the information available in the Final Grades Report, within SIS. While the Final Grades Report in SIS provides projections of students’ final grades, it does not indicate how far a student is from being on track. The Final Grades Analysis Tool builds on this report by providing student-level lists that show exactly how close each student is to passing each class, enabling teams to triage support more effectively. This makes the tool particularly valuable at the end of a semester for semester-based courses, or in Quarter 4 for yearlong course, when final outcomes are most critical.
This Final Grades Analysis Tool is accessed by pasting an extract from SIS into the dashboard. Once populated, the dashboard highlights projected final grades, identifies the grade a student must earn to pass if they are currently failing or at risk, and offers real-time insight for targeted intervention.
Several schools used the tool to flag 9th graders on the bubble and encouraged them by showing how close they were to passing.
Counselors identified freshmen failing 3+ courses in quarter 4 and met with them to discuss credit recovery options for summer.
Who has access?
(Infinite Campus) Principals, Assistant Principals, Schedulers and Counselors
When is it updated?
It is updated nightly after grades are posted in SIS and is most relevant at the end of each semester for semester-based courses, and during Quarter 4 for yearlong courses, when final outcomes are being determined.
How often should it be used?
The primary use case is to monitor student progress toward passing their courses. It is most useful at the end of each semester for semester-based courses, and throughout Quarter 4 for yearlong courses. It can be helpful for principals, counselors, and 9th grade teams to review regularly during these periods to identify students in need of support and to plan timely interventions
