For the 82nd Airborne Division, health and wellness are operational imperatives. Paratroopers must maintain peak physical and mental conditioning to meet the extreme demands of airborne operations and the mandate to deploy globally within 18 hours. Equally vital is the well-being of their families; family resilience provides the foundational support that ensures Paratrooper readiness, ultimately forging a stronger, more lethal "All American" force.
For Paratroopers, staying informed about dietary supplements is a critical component of force health protection and individual readiness. Because the commercial supplement market is not strictly regulated by the FDA prior to release, products can often contain undisclosed ingredients, including synthetic compounds or stimulants explicitly banned by military policy. Consuming prohibited or unsafe supplements can lead to severe adverse health effects, failed urinalysis tests, and compromised mission performance. By actively researching and verifying products against approved resources—such as the Operation Supplement Safety (OPSS) database—service members protect their careers, safeguard their health, and ensure the overall operational readiness and lethality of their unit.
