In a unit like the 82nd where deployments are typically reactive with little notice, this section covers a few things to consider before your unit assumes the Immediate Response Force 1 (IRF 1). At the company level, leaders will ensure Paratroopers complete required tasks before assuming IRF 1. This includes completing a pre-deployment health assessment via MedPros, getting up to date on vaccines, getting a dental checkup, taking a vision, hearing, neurocognitive (ANAM) and HIV test, updating their SGLI (Life Insurance Coverage) via MilConnect, and updating their DD Form 93 (Record of Emergency Contact) via IPPS-A.

Communication
Be aware that communication with your Family, friends, and loved ones is not guaranteed during deployment. When packing your bags prior to assuming the IRF 1, pack a notebook that contains the phone numbers, emails, and addresses of your loved ones
Discuss how you and your loved ones will get in touch in case of an emergency if you were to deploy. Ensure your loved one is aware of the Red Cross Emergency Message process. Also, ensure your loved one and their contact information up to date on your unit's Next of Kin Roster and your DD Form 93 (Record of Emergency Data).
It is really important for the correct contact information for a Family member to be on the unit's Next of Kin (NOK) roster. This is how units are able to quickly inform, update, and remain in contact with Families during activations when the service members will likely be out of reach! Refer to your Brigade tab under the "82nd Airborne Division Events and Opportunities Section" to find your Paratrooper's Battalion's Family Point of Contact or Command Family Readiness Representative. They are typically the ones who help oversee unit NOK rosters!
Financial Planning
Revisit where your money is going and document recurring monthly expenses (rent, car payment, insurance, streaming service, utilities, etc.)
Ensure all bills are on autopay
Military ID Card
Make sure everyone in your family has a valid military ID. Military ID cards allow family members to access important services and privileges, like TRICARE health insurance and the on-base commissary and exchange.
ID Cards / Common Access Cards can be renewed within 90 days before the date of expiration. Bring two valid forms of identification (State issued driver's license, birth certificate, social security card, or US passport) when you go to renew. You can renew the following ways:
