Kelly Webster, 1970 Graduate
French ID Cards, Hollins Abroad Paris, 1967-1968
Four different identification cards were shared with us, made with a thick cardboard-like material. Each ID card was stamped with ink, sometimes detailing a depiction of a landmark. Inside the cards, there is also a small, stapled picture of Webster to prove identification. Inside the beige-colored ID card, there are stamps detailing all the places in France she traveled to during her time abroad, such as Marseille and Tours. Webster was studying abroad in Paris, France, where she stayed in the 1st Arrondissement, which is home to many famous landmarks, including the Louvre. Webster was studying in Paris during the time of the manifestations, a time of turmoil and uncertainty in the city. Unfortunately, she was forced to evacuate in June. Despite this, she still says it was an incredible time and was very exciting.
