Kathy J. Daniel, 1975 Graduate
Hammer, Hollins Abroad London, Fall 1974
“I was a science major and didn’t want to get behind, so I registered for geology and chemistry at the University of London. For geology, we had to buy a special hammer. I used it when we went on field trips. On one eventful trip, I found myself hitchhiking home with two other students. I brought the hammer home and put it in my Dad’s workshop. When I moved into my first house, my Dad gave me a toolbox filled with things I might need. He included the hammer on which he had written “Kathy Daniel, 1975” and something that has been rubbed off, possibly Hollins or London. I cherish it.” (Daniel)
Kathy Daniel studied abroad in London in the Fall of 1974. While at Hollins, she majored in biology. While abroad at the University of London, she studied chemistry and geology to keep up with her major and science requirements. For the geology class, she was required to buy a special hammer for field trips.
