Today, people are living in their homes like almost everyone else. But it was not always like this. During the 1500 people were demanding for food and people were being kidnapped. But a little girl named Pocahontas changed all that. When she was born, she was named Amonute which means ‘playful one.’ will this brave girl stop all this madness?

Pocahontas was born near Jamestown Colony, Virginia in 1596. She was named Amonute, but she was privately known as Matoaka, and her nickname was Pocahontas. Her family members are Wahunsenaca her father, Pocahontas her mother, Mattachanna her sister. A fun fact about her early life was that she was the favorite daughter, also, when she was about 9-10 John Smith came to her valley. Her hobbies were usually hanging outside and doing cartwheels. But, when she was 13, she was taught to do things like a woman, she was taught to make baskets, knit, and cook meat.

Her Influences were saving John Smiths life because she thought he should have a life and not be executed. And later in the year Pocahontas ran towards John Smith to tell him that her father was planning to kill him! John Smith had a feeling that they were planning something bad. But before all of this she wanted to help the English settlers by giving them food, she wanted to help them because the Indians and the English already had a bad relationship, so she wanted to make peace. During the time when she was saving the English, John Smith was at other tribes pointing guns to their leaders' heads and demanding gold and food. Pocahontas obstacles were getting kidnapped from the British for about a year. Also, the British wanted corn to get her back and she was converted to Christianity, but she refused. And she was able to see her father again. About a month later, she heard a knock at the door, she was surprised to see John Smith standing at the front door, He told her that they were lying about his death, and he was alive! Pocahontas was so angry. And she really let him have it. After yelling at him she slammed the door in his face.

Now, we are going to talk about Pocahontas’ accomplishments! Pocahontas’s accomplishments were helping the English settlers, she accomplished that by giving the English settlers food. She also saved John Smiths life, she accomplished this by pleading to her father until he said he wouldn’t kill John Smith. Her second accomplishment was marrying John Rolfe. She married him because she loved him a lot. The outcome of their marriage was that they lived on a big tobacco farm.

Now, we have to talk about how Pocahontas died. Pocahontas died in March 1617 Gravesend, England. She died by getting ill on a ship traveling to England. She was buried at a church yard in Gravesend England. She died because people were getting sick on the ship, and she got sick to a few days later she died. She is important because she helped the English settlers. Finally, we remember Pocahontas as the mother of our country.

Here are some fun facts about Pocahontas. She has been married twice, she has met royalty before, she is known for being a hero today, her mother died, and the last fact is that Pocahontas’s mothers name was Pocahontas. Pocahontas is important because she helped the English settlers survive through the rough times. We can remember Pocahontas by celebrating the fourth of July. This was the amazing story of Pocahontas!
