Abraham Lincoln the 16th president of the United States of America from the American Civil War time was a brave president that wanted to do anything in his power to stop the slaves. But just because he was president didn’t mean he could just end it he had to go through a prolonged process before the Emancipation Proclamation which freed the slaves, was approved. However, he was not liked by all people. In fact, one person hated him so much that he shot him! The person who shot him faced profound consequences...

Abraham Lincoln had a ridiculously demanding time as a kid. When he was little, he was poor and could not afford a premade house, so he had to build cabins out of wood from trees with his family. Struggling to get money, Abe Lincoln and his family started a farm hoping to earn some money.

Abraham Lincoln was born February 12th, 1809, and he was not a typical kid. He had an extremely challenging time as a kid. He was always moving, building, farming, and that’s about all he did when he was little. Reading was the one thing that he usually did if he wasn’t working. But still, he always wanted to do what was best for his family, and one day even his country.

Abe was not lazy when he grew up, in fact he was continually active! He helped people, came up with cool inventions, and he tried to solve local problems that his town was having. Abe had many jobs to do so that he could feed himself, keep and buy a house, and so that he could just survive in general like a normal person.

When Abe started to grow up a little more, he was getting smarter by the second so he had many jobs because he could understand more than an average person. His job being a flatboat navigator led to his first and last patent. Something cool about him getting a patent is that he is the only president to get a patent! The device that he made helped get boats that got stuck on a big boulder in the river or if the boat got flung sideways. He came up with the idea when he got stuck on a boat! Abe had many other jobs and to be exact 5 other jobs besides the flatboat navigator. His other jobs were local government to help solve problems, surveyor to survey how thing were going in his town, Storekeeper to help watch over a store and do the usual things a storekeeper does, he was also a soldier to help defend his country, and he also was a postmaster that delivered letters. But Abe was not quite taught by other people, he was mostly self-taught but one year he got lucky and was able to attend ABC/BLAB school.

When Abe was little, he worked on his family’s farm, moved to Illinois, and sadly one of the worst things happened to him. His mother Nancy died when he was 9 years old. Abe had a small family, He had his dad Thomas, his mom Nancy, his wife Mary, his 4 sons Willie, Edward, Tad, and Robert. Overall, he didn’t have many people to talk to.

Abraham Lincoln had many influences; and some weren’t even people! But he had one main influence, his influence was George Washington, one of the greatest leaders in America’s history. George Washington’s farewell words after he left position as Commander in Chief, inspired Abe Lincoln the 16th president of the United States of America. But unlike some people Abe understood Washington’s words. It wasn’t just what Washington said either, it was also what he did best, being a leader and being honest. The Declaration of Independence also inspired Abraham Lincoln. It’s strong form of speech spoke to Abe in an effective way. Slavery also pursued him, to him slavery was evil which it is, and he wanted to stop it, but it wasn’t easy, he had to get the Emancipation Proclamation approved which was ridiculously hard. And finally, Thomas Payne’s teachings also inspired Abe Lincoln. His teachings spoke to Abe, and he understood every single word that came out of Thomas’ mouth.

Abe Lincoln had many different obstacles in his life. One was even fatal! Abe Lincoln also had more than just fatal obstacles though. They had bad people try to stop him from doing what was right. But even though people tried to stop him, he still got the job done. The fatal incident was with his mom, she died from a milk disease. It made life extremely difficult for Abe, but he managed to stay calm. The bad people tried to stop him by trying to kill him. One day it worked, and we’ll talk about that later. People trying to stop him from ending slavery was also a big problem, but he overcame it by making the Emancipation Proclamation.

Lincoln had many accomplishments. I fact, he had four main ones. Some of these accomplishments changed America forever. Abe’s first accomplishment was being the first president to have a patent! He did it when he was on a flatboat. It was particularly important because it would help stuck boats get unstuck. His patent was not made instead there is just a model. The effect then was none because the idea never turned into a real thing. The effect now is nothing because the patent never became a reality just like how it didn’t in his time. It is sad that his idea was just a prototype, but life doesn’t always go your way.

Abe’s second accomplishment was becoming the 16th president of the United States of America. He was also the tallest. He did it by getting votes from the states. This was especially important because later as president he freed the slaves. The effects then were magnificent because it meant no more slaves! And the effects now are also magnificent because there are still no more slaves in America.

Abe’s third accomplishment was ending the Civil War. He did it by joining the Confederate States of America and the Union States of America back together making it the United States of America once again. This is particularly important because it ended the war. If he did not end it who knows what may have happened. The effects then were that the war ended, and the effects then were that the country is not in physical war.

Abe’s fourth accomplishment was that he got the Emancipation Proclamation approved, which ended slavery. It is important that he freed the slaves with this document of slavery may have still existed today. He did it because he could while president. The effects now are no slaves, and the effects then were no slaves.

Abraham Lincoln had a fatal death. He did not have a peaceful death he had a very harsh one. First, he was at a theater, second, he was shot with a pistol, third, he was killed from the shot, fourth, he died at the Petersen family boarding house, fifth, he died in Springfield Illinois. The pistol he was shot with was a 44 Calabar pistol called the Derringer by John Wilkes Booth.

Overall, Abraham Lincoln was said to have been one of the one of the greatest presidents in America’s history! Him freeing the slaves is what he is best known for. Today you can remember him by going to Washington DC and seeing his memorial. There is one thinking question though, if you could go back in time to Ford’s theater, would you have raced up the stairs to where Lincoln was sitting and let John Wilkes Booth kill you instead of Lincoln? Would you do it for YOUR country’s sake? And for LINCOLN’S life?
