I feel very fortunate 🥳to have this "Teaching Mathematics in the Digital Age" every Wednesday with Dr. KU not only because I learned a lot of new knowledge. This course provided me with a comprehensive understanding of how to integrate digital tools into my mathematics courses to enhance student learning. Therefore, I can improve my teaching and lesson plans by using online tools which can provide more benefits for students.
During this semester, I learned about various e-learning tools🧑🏫, including GeoGebra, Desmos, and RStudio, and how to use them to design effective mathematics courses. One of the most important takeaways from this course is the importance of theoretical frameworks that guide the process of developing mathematics pedagogy using digital tools. I learned how to apply these frameworks to develop effective mathematics lessons that engage students and enhance their learning experience.🫡
In addition, by doing the online learning assignments, group assignments, group projects and presentations, all facilitated my learning experience and helped me develop my skills in designing and delivering effective mathematics courses.
Here are the examples and our "achievements"😉 using GeoGebra, Desmos, ChatGPT and Shiny applications:
Design a triangle activity using GeoGebra to help students understand trigonometric functions and trigonometric identities.
Design a Transformation activity using Desmos to help students understand the graph and properties of Transformation including translation, stretch and reflection.
Use ChatGPT to guide students in mathematical inquiry, such as solving a mathematical puzzle or exploring a mathematical concept. We tried to use ChatGPT to help us to write a lesson plan.
Design an interactive statistics website using the Shiny application to help students understand basic concepts of probability and statistics.
Overall, the Teaching Mathematics in the Digital Age course was a valuable experience for me as a future teacher.
Thank you Dr. KU. I can see your hardworking and determined attitude towards this course. I am touched and inspired by your passion for academics and education, and your dedication to helping us learn. I appreciate the level of detail you provide in your feedback, as it has been instrumental in helping me improve my work. Dr. Ku's commitment to his students is truly admirable, and I am grateful for the effort you put in to ensure that we have a positive learning experience.
