The cadets of 514 Kinsmen Squadron parade and train weekly on Monday evenings (6:30pm-9:15pm). Training generally follows the following routine:
In-Routine and opening parade
Period 1
Period 2
Break and Canteen
Period 3
Closing parade and Announcements
Scheduled training is broken up into 30-minute periods and will vary from week to week. Cadets are divided into training levels, based primarily on their age, and receive training appropriate for their level of confidence and experience in the program. Here is an example of a typical training night:
We explore many other training experiences as well, including community tours, sport/fitness events, and flights on the DreamFlyer flight simulator.
You will see in the example provided that many of the instructors are not members of adult staff, but senior cadets. This is one of the key objectives of our program, to teach Canada's youth to take on leadership and instructional roles.
