The Cadet Correspondent Course is designed to enable Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers to participate in the Public Affairs (PA) function of CJCR. Cadets playing an active role in PA reflects the model of “Cadets Leading Cadets” seen throughout the Cadet Program (CP) and strengthens the Cadet Voice within external communication products.
Cadets will learn the roles and responsibilities of a Cadet Correspondent, distinguish best practices in public communications, and incorporate digital communications techniques. At the end of the course, cadets will be able to promote the CP at the Corps/Squadron level through local media and social media platforms as well as contribute to Regional and National Public Affairs Plans during Area and Regionally Directed Activities (RDA) and Summer Training.
Cadets must meet the following eligibility criteria:
(a) Must be 16 years of age;
(b) Be articulate and have effective communication skills;
(c) Experience or interest in photography, writing, and media production;
(d) Have regular access to high-speed internet, computer/tablet, camera/smartphone and a valid Cadet365 account;
