MARKSMANSHIP
What is Marksmanship?
Marksmanship training is conducted at 514 using the Daisy Air Rifle. There are a series of competitions hosted throughout the training year, each evaluating a cadet's ability to shoot grouping targets.
Who is eligible?
Any cadet who has completed the rifle handling test is eligible to join the practices and try out for the Marksmanship team.
Sunday Practices
Drop-Off: Sundays at 2pm at Garrison St. John’s, 115 The Boulevard
Pick-Up: 4:00pm at Garrison St. John’s, 115 The Boulevard
Attire: Civilian attire, suitable for shooting jackets and resting in the prone position during relays.
Notes: At this time, it is recommended that if you have not already completed the rifle safety handling test, that you wait for an opportunity to do so before attending Saturday practices. Regular practices will be held frequently on Monday evenings.
BIATHLON
What is Biathlon?
Biathlon is a competitive sport which combines cardio fitness and marksmanship. Participants will train to alternate between running and safely handling an air rifle while racing against their peers. The zone competition is scheduled for Saturday, 16 November 2024. If our teams are successful, they may have the chance to compete at the provincial competition later in the training year.
Who is eligible?
Any cadet who has completed the rifle handling test is eligible to join the practices and try out for the Biathlon team. The next Rifle Handling training and test will take place on Monday, 27 Oct 2025. There will be other opportunities to complete the test prior to team selection for the Zone Championship.
