About the Battle of Britain Parade
This parade commemorates the crucial World War II air campaign (July–October 1940) where the Royal Air Force (RAF) defended the UK (United Kingdom) from sustained Luftwaffe (German air force) attacks aimed at destroying Britain's air superiority for a planned invasion. The RAF's success, despite being outnumbered, prevented the invasion and preserved Britain's freedom.
The Battle of Britain Parade is hosted by the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (150 Wing, RCAFA), with coordination support from local CIC staff. The parade begins at Parade Street in downtown St. John's and arrived at the Anglican Cathedral on Church Hill. All parade members attend a memorial service, including religious sequence, before returning to parade and proceeding past City Hall. The full parade details and schedule are below.
Parents/guardians may follow along the parade and attend all services, but this is not mandatory.
Dress for Cadets
The dress is the complete, ceremonial blue dress uniform (DEU, C-1).
If cadets have not been issued their blue dress uniform, they should wear their complete, green FTU (C-5).
If you have not received any uniform, or your uniform is not "complete", please wear civilian attire appropriate for a ceremonial, commemorative service. Generally speaking, a business-casual approach is acceptable.
