Courtney is an attorney in the Department of Procurement Services. After graduating from the University of Michigan Law School, she began her career in the public sector working as a legal fellow at the Children’s Law Center in Washington, D.C. before clerking for the Presiding Judge of the Chancery Diversion of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Judge Moshe Jacobius. She has also worked as an attorney for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) where she drafted and negotiated many of the District’s contracts in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a broad range of agreements including professional services, technology, educational services, and supply contracts. At CPS, she was also responsible for advising departments and schools regarding contractual provisions, transactional matters, CPS rules and policies, and procurement laws.
