Make a header for Week 2.
First topic is NUMBER - write 5 sentences about the use of number in everyday life.
These sentences are to be placed under today's date, on the relevant webpage. This makes looking back over your classroom work very easy in the future. You can also add links or images to support your sentences.
Number includes:
Counting & estimating. Understanding place value.
Fractions, Decimals, Percentages.
Operations: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, powers.
A link to your Transum trophy cabinet
To get the link complete this Transum Basic Addition Task and Claim Your Trophy.
Tuesday 6th February 2018 - Waitangi Day
Homework - complete your website setup and the 5 sentences. If your device does not support "New" Google sites, then find an alternative digital tool where you can store your record of learning for 2018. We can talk about this in class.
Wednesday 7th February 2018 - Number Skills
Today you will work through a number of self-marking tests, recording your effort and progress on your website. At the end of the lesson you will reflect on your effort and learning, and your ability to work with other students.
By the end of this lesson you should add to your website:
A link to your trophy cabinet
Screenshots of completed and marked activities
A sentence describing some new learning
A sentence about helping others, and seeking help
A sentence describing how focused you were on learning, and how determined you were to learn something new.
Thursday 8th Feb (10K - SIM & 10MM - OHN)
E-ASTTLE Number pre-test
This test is completed ONLINE so you must bring your device as per usual.
Logons are printed for you and passwords have been reset.
If you do not have a device please borrow one from the school library for the period.
If e-asttle testing does not go ahead, then keep working through the Number activities, recording your efforts on your website.
If you have no device, or can not log in, and cannot borrow one from the library, then get a text book from the back of the room and work through the number chapter.
Note: Ms Allan teaches Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. You will have another teacher for the 4th lesson each week.
Monday 12th Feb - Peer marking skills
First half of the lesson
Each group of 4 students will be given 2 posters to comment on.
Place post-it notes pointing out the good features of the poster.
Make a poster listing the elements of a good poster.
Create a poster together teaching something to do with Number. (Fractions, Decimals or Percentages).
Update your website with a reflection:
What did you do? What did you learn?
How well did you work together? Did you enjoy working as a group?

The BIG Idea is to learn from your mistakes, they are the KEY to knowing what YOU need to learn.
Please note: Every Thursday Ms Allan will look at your website and give you a grade. The grade will change each week. Ms Allan will use it to ensure ALL students understand what is required and to give extra support those who need it most.

Wednesday 14th & Thursday 15th February - Number Skills
Complete as many levels as you can of https://maths.prototec.co.nz/
Start at Stage 8
if this is hard, try Stage 6, if that is hard go right back to Stage 2-3 and work your way up
if you get over 90% in Stage 8
Repeat the test until you get 100% learning from your mistakes.
Insert the certificate into your website.
Work through Number resources. (These go right up to NCEA Level 1 so everyone should have plenty to do).
Moodle self testing - Numeracy Project - You will need to log into Moodle first.
Screenshot evidence of ALL your work and include it on your website under today's date.
Update your website with a reflection on your learning today:
