H.B.W. Clubs Spotlight

By Kevin Mulcahy & Belle Lambert

Even though in-person clubs cannot currently be run, many clubs have decided to continue their meetings remotely. From sports clubs to service clubs, there is a club for everyone. Clubs are a great way to make new friends and connect with people who have similar interests. While not all clubs are currently meeting, there are still tons of amazing clubs to participate in. Some examples are below.

In the Mandarin Club, you do fun activities. All the activities are related to one language. That language is the most spoken language in the world. On the first day, students participated in a spin-the-wheel activity. You can be in Mandarin Club if you are in fifth grade or if you take Mandarin as your international language. If you want to learn more about Mandarin, Mandarin Club might be for you.

The Student Council is another H.B.W. club. You need to get elected. Voting happens in the fall. You can run for the executive board, class president, or homeroom representative. It is done virtually in 2020. If you are in grades five through seven this year, consider running for office in 2021.

Eco Club is also a club at H.B.W. It focuses on plants and nature. The goal of it is to help the environment and inspire a new generation of conservationists. In springtime, the club members will go on nature walks. If you think that the natural environment is in danger, consider joining Eco Club to help H.B.W. get greener.
