Fitness Activities

Week 2 Fitness. First off, here are some basic options:

  1. Walk and/or run for 30 minutes a day. Build up your foundation by trying to run more each day.

  2. Play basketball or soccer, keeping in mind social distancing.

  3. Ride your bike or skateboard.

  4. Complete a circuit (see videos from last week, or look below for inspiration):

1. Here is a video of a circuit I did with my family: Fun Circuit for Kids

It’s pretty short and totally doable. You can also do it more than once, if you want more challenges, as well as adding some additional activities at the end (or in between).

2. This is more for entertainment, but perhaps you start small (jump rope, box jump, jumping over objects) and Embrace the Grind like Jordan Burroughs—he’s one of the most decorated and hard-working wrestlers in the world: Embrace the Grind: Jordan Burroughs

Here are number of Fitness Videos* collected and presented by our Healthy Living Department Head. I will also keep this page (and the website) updated with new and various activities during the course of the next six weeks. WE*** can do this!

* All of these workouts can be done at home, and require little to no equipment.

  1. Free HIIT Workouts - High Intensity Interval Training is a great way to get your heart rate up, and get an awesome, full body cardio workout in a short amount of time.

  1. “10 Rounds” Sample Workout - this is a new program that will be coming out soon, that combines boxing and weight lifting moves. The trainer is one of my favs.

  1. Barre Blend Sample Workout - This is a workout from one of my favorite programs. Barre is kind of a blend between yoga, pilates, and dance. This is an all body weight workout - but gives such a great sweat and burn!

  1. Go for a walk or run! (I ran twice over the weekend to build my foundation back up-- hope to continue to improve over these next six weeks**!)

**Running and walking can be done in small groups, but they're also great exercises and activities for Mindfulness and Social Distancing. Plus, nature and fresh air are awesome for our well-being and overall health.

***No pressure, but some students and families have emailed me (or posted) clips/pictures of their workouts and examples of staying active, positive, and practicing habits of overall well-being.

Here are some Circuit Videos (I'll try to keep refreshing these and adding more exercise videos over the year):
