R. Kelly and His Assortment of Women: A Potential Cult
As many may know, R. Kelly, or Robert Kelly, is a successful American R&B artist. Starting in 1993, R. Kelly has had several top hits and has been greatly admired in the music world. As his career continued, Kelly gained mass amounts of fans and followers. As he has aged, Kelly has began to mentor young new artists, particularly female, to make it in the music industry. Although this may seem like nothing but a kind gesture, there have been several reports that may say otherwise.
While R. Kelly was on tour, he would be approached by several young women, most of them teenagers, which is standard for a celebrity. Many times, Kelly would invite young women whom he found “promising” backstage to discuss potential music careers. As an upcoming music artist and fan, this would be perhaps one of the most exciting things to happen to these girls. Even their parents were so wrapped up in the sheer amazement that they did not think to be the least bit worried. There are several factors that should cause concern in parents, especially Kelly’s marriage to Aaliyah, who was fifteen years old at the time. Later, he released his song “Age Ain’t Nothin But a Number”, in which the message is quite alarming as well. Adding on, in 2008 Kelly was put on trial for child pornagraphy after he recorded a sex tape with a minor. Although he was acquitted, many still believe he is guilty.
Various parents of those who have had correlations with R. Kelly say that their daughters were invited out to Atlanta to stay in Kelly’s guest house near his recording studio. Parents of the women who have moved into the Atlanta home have reported that they have not heard from their daughters in months and very rarely see them. The parents have reported their daughters as missing persons, but because they are not in danger in the eyes of the law, and because they have been in contact, the police cannot do anything. Those close to Kelly, however, may disprove that they are not endangered. According to friends of Kelly, he controls every aspect of these girls’ lives. He regulates when they eat, sleep, and bathe, as well as how the dress, what they say, and with whom they have sexual encounters with, which he films. Kelly’s friends refer to this as almost a cult, calling him a “puppet master.”
As of current times, it is said there are six women whom Kelly allegedly is keeping in his Atlanta home. Despite this, there is a possibility that there are many more that people do not know of, perhaps in different places. Although there is no proof that this situation is possibly a cult, parents of the young women and friends of R. Kelly believe that it is a high probability.
