ROLE OF DESIGN
The Design Engineers create a digital representation of a collaborative process that combines possible improvements from multiple groups within the Department (i.e. Traffic and Safety, Maintenance, Planning, Hydraulics, Structures, etc.) agency partners, community partners, and the public to best understand the needs in an area and outline and develop the possible solutions.
Roadway Design begins with the concept of an improvement in an area and continues through the delivery of construction plans for a project. Roadway Design projects range from minor pavement preservation projects to complex highway facilities. The design of these improvements are based on design standards, criteria and guidelines approved by the Department.
