Colegio de Sta. Isabel was first founded on November 5, 1867 by Most Rev. Bishop Fransisco C. Gainza, O.P., Bishop of Caceres, through a Royal Order of Queen Isabela II of Spain. A Royal Decree signed on January 11, 1872 by Amadeo of Saboya, raised the Colegio de Sta. Isabel to Escuela Normal de Maestras , making it the first teacher training institution for women in the Philippines and in the Far East!
In USI, Teachers to be are not just molded to be a teacher. Every student are hone to be good Vincentian educators whose passion in teaching emanates from words, actions, and deeds. Students are guided with curriculum framework made by experts from various fields and is a program PAASCU accredited.
