USDB: Outreach Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Duchesne District and Area Charter Schools
Alyse Farnsworth serves school-age children in Duchesne and Uintah counties. In May 2013, she completed her bachelor of science degree at the University of Utah in special education, with an emphasis in serving learners who are deaf and hard of hearing from kindergarten through 22 years of age. Following this, she attended Mount Saint Mary’s University/John Tracy Clinic where she earned a master’s degree as an Education Specialist for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in 2017. Alyse was also awarded the Karen Rothwell Vivian Memorial Scholarship for excellence in listening and spoken language practice in order to pursue certification as an auditory-verbal therapist. She currently serves deaf and hard of hearing children from birth through high school in rural Utah as an itinerant teacher and PIP advisor. Her main focus is language development, and she strongly supports both visual and auditory communication methodologies. Her graduate work concentrated on family involvement and support, and she continues to emphasize this in her practice. She is currently a member of the AG Bell Association and the Hearing First Professional Learning Community.
