The CTL is piloting a new fellowship experience aimed at supporting faculty who would benefit from more hands-on support for meeting student needs, meeting institutional expectations, are newer to USD, or would benefit from the additional support for other reasons. The IFF will focus on more immediate, concrete improvements for the next offering of a course or courses.
The CTL’s goals in piloting this program are to make this experience more:
Practical, not theoretical: We’ll explore actions faculty can take immediately to improve the learning experience for students.
Hands-on: More one-on-one time with CTL staff to help build out course materials and discuss instructional plans
Outcomes-Based: Faculty will be asked specifically about what they plan to change in their courses as part of their participation in the fellowship.
The 2026 IFF fellowship will be held June 8-12, 2026, and meet from 1:00pm-4:00pm each day both in person and via Zoom.
Faculty will be nominated by their chair or dean for participation in the fellowship. While, ideally, we would include everyone who is nominated, the CTL will invite based on available funding.
Stipend amounts:
$750 for participating in the training, scheduling one follow-up meeting with a CTL staff member, and developing an improvement plan.
$250 (optional): Participating in a course review and reflection and allowing survey of students during a course in the next academic year.
Chairs and deans are invited to nominate faculty using this form.
