Mentoring Training
The USD-HHMI Inclusive Science Initiative and the Center for Teaching and Learning have partnered to offer Entering Mentoring, a facilitator-guided workshop that teaches the principles and best practices of mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. The curriculum has been developed and validated by the nationally recognized Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research or CIMER (https://cimerproject.org/).
Participants who attend eight mentoring training sessions will receive a Statement of Achievement in Mentoring.
Spring Mentoring Training
Every spring, we offer an intensive mentoring training program. Past participants reported benefiting greatly from their participation in this training.

Establishing a Growth Mindset Workshop Recordings
USD hosted an Establishing a Growth Mindset on January 13-14, 2023. This workshop explored shifting our mindsets about learning and intelligence to transform the college student experience into one in which every student can succeed. This workshop builds off the resources produced by the Student Experience Project, and the College Transition Collaborative. Our workshop was led by Dr. Kathryn Boucher. Dr. Boucher is Associate Professor, Interim Program Director for the Department of Psychological Science, and Associate Director of the Ron & Laura Strain Honors College at the University of Indianapolis.

Growth mindset cultures for our classrooms: the evidence base
Establishing a growth mindset culture in the early weeks of the term: syllabi & policy reviews
Communicating growth mindset in our feedback on tests and assignments
Sustaining a growth mindset culture: difficult conversations around poor grades, academic misconduct, and other tough discussions
Incorporating student voice: how to assess how students are experiencing our courses
Action plans to incorporate this knowledge into our teaching and a Q&A session with Dr. Boucher
