The CTL is responsible for implementing and managing the SDBOR's Quality Assurance (QA) Process (SDBOR AAC 2.3.8.B) for online courses at USD and ensuring compliance with the SDBOR's QA rubric (SDBOR AAC 2.3.8.B(1)) for online courses. To that end, the CTL has established a five-step QA training and review process required of all online instructors and online courses:
INTRODUCTION
(synchronous)
defines the expectations for online instructors and details the numerous resources available
POLICIES & PROCEDURES
(asynchronous)
assesses online instructors on USD/BOR policies, procedures, and digital accessibility
QA PROCESS & ONLINE PEDAGOGY
(asynchronous)
describes pedagogy and best practices for engaging online students and assesses online instructors on the USD/BOR QA process
INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY
(asynchronous & sync.)
engages online instructors with custom instructional technology training and resources used to develop and offer their online courses
COURSE QA REVIEW
(asynchronous)
evaluates the online instructor's overall course design using the BOR QA rubric
The CTL notifies new online instructors needing training once they are assigned as the instructor of record in Banner. Previously trained instructors of courses will also be contacted if assigned as the instructor of record of an online course scheduled to be reviewed.
The CTL also ensures that all online courses are prepared for instruction each semester. For more information about this process, please refer to the Online QA/Readiness Expectations document.
