Communication skills
The teacher demonstrates correctness in the use of verbal and nonverbal communication. He/She knows the value of language as a tool to stimulate oral and written expression, inquiry and collaborative interaction inside and outside the classroom.
As part of competency 6, I present documents that demonstrate the good use of verbal and written communication in English and Spanish. These serve as the development of an effective communicator, which is key in the classroom.
Writing in the Digital Era: 5-11 Public Relations conducted a workshop on writing in the digital age and how to do it successfully. This workshop was coordinated by me for the aforementioned student organization. The presenters were Clara Villamán and Miss Gala, both recognized "bloggers".
Blogs are an innovative way of maintaining contact with students, creating a network for teachers or even keeping a public diary. Due to this, I participated of a professional workshop about the use of Blogs within the educational curriculum. We were taught about the correct usage of it, how to create it and the pros and cons of it.
-Articles on the website of 5-11 Public Relations (Press Department) (Click on the link!) - I was the director and writer of the Press Department (2017-2019), affiliated with 5-11 Public Relations, a multidisciplinary student organization that provides free communications services. The Press Department is the team in charge of the writing for the Student Organization and its clients. This Department created the "Website" of the Organization (5-11 PR) and it is who makes the publications of the same. The "Website" has the purpose of entertaining and informing its clients and potential clients about the services and acting as a way to publicize its activities and those of 5-11 PR.
Open Doors For Bilingual Teachers (article) (Click on the link!)- Article about employment opportunities for teachers. This was written as the final work of a journalism course.
Communication skills at a foreign land.(Click on the link!)- As part of an educational trip to England, I wrote a journal about everything I experienced and learned during the trip. The trip was part of a level six literature course. During the experience, I was able to learn about Shakespeare and his various works, British culture and history, and acquire new methods to teach literature to teenagers and children.
Poems (Click on the link!)- Poems written by me about self-love. These are aimed at elementary school girls and were part of the exhibition of materials as a "Big Book"
Research paper (Click on link!)- Research essay written for a literature course. It deals with the consequences of war, analyzed through literary works. This research was presented at a Research Congress of the College of General Studies.
