Knowledge and mastery of the subject
The teacher demonstrates a broad and in-depth knowledge of the subject he / she teaches, establishes connections with other subjects and organizes meaningful learning experiences of the subject for all students.
As part of the competency 1, I present documents that demonstrate the creation of various tools for the teaching of English. These tools serve as a benefit for the educator and the students.
Poetry Presentation (Click on the link!)- This document was created to be used during an entire unit. It explains in a very detailed way what is poetry and all of its concepts. It is a presentation directed to educators.
Literature Program (Click on the link!)- The literature program is a two-semester plan based on children's literature. It is divided into months or weeks and each subdivision is classified into units or subjects. The literature program not only helps the teacher organize their curriculum for the year, but also organizes the classroom reading center and decides what sources will be used to acquire the materials. This work was carried out as part of the EING 4016 course (Literature for children) and with the objective of creating a unit plan based on children's literature that helps to develop the skills in the English language.
Lesson Plan (Click on the link!)- This lesson plan presents a 5th grade English class about the environment with an emphasis on reading. This plan was developed for the EING 4019 (English-Speaking) course with the objective of developing the knowledge skills to create a daily class plan that covers the different areas of importance in the classroom, with adequate objectives, identification of standards , procedure and more.
Curriculum Mapping (Click on the link!)- The creation of a curriculum map is a process for collecting data that identifies the core content, processes, and assessment. It thematically aligns assessment, curriculum and instruction, while allowing educators to purposefully plan and outline what is taught in a given year. It allows for articulation across the grades and within each grade. This process, which is vital for a teacher, requires the full knowledge of your subject and how to interact with it in different environments.
Content Reading Strategies (Click on the link!)- The presentation discusses ways in which students' understanding and memory of what they have read can be improved. The objective was to provide a set of strategies and methods, linked to a set of theories. These tools will lead us to improve education and destroy the box, in which sometimes, we are caged. This work was done for the course EING 4018 (Reading) with the aim of acquiring knowledge about the different strategies that can be used in classrooms with students of different cultures, communities and needs. This work was presented to the students of the aforementioned course.
