CAASPP Information (Juniors Only) - Every year all eleventh-grade students are required to take the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress. Commonly called the CAASPP. Even though we are still learning either remotely or in a hybrid model, we want to give all of our juniors the time to complete the test.
This test has two parts: English and Mathematics. Each subject has two subtests. In order to give all juniors the opportunity to complete this assessment, Mr. Thiessen has scheduled the tests on specific days over the course of two weeks.
On testing days, the Juniors will check in with their Homeroom teacher to be COVID-19 screened, and then they proceed to the Kern Building computer labs for testing. Once they finish testing they can return to their UPHS classes or go home if they are a Distance Learning student.
All students who have chosen to remain home following the Distance Learning Model are invited to come on two of the days listed below to complete the two tests. If a student who is learning from home chooses to not come in to take the test, they will be tested remotely using their laptop.
Further details regarding this assessment can be found on page 28 in our Student/Parent Handbook, or page 27 in the Spanish Student/Parent Handbook.
Additionally, for those students who are in the Distance Learning group, please click on the link (below) to help us to plan for how many students will be on campus each day to test. This survey is to let us know if you will allow your student to come on campus to complete the tests or remain home and complete them virtually. Mr. Thiessen will assign your student to one of the Cohorts based on the number of students who will return to campus to complete the assessments. Students are not required to come to campus to test.
