Many people believe that the Bagobo were the first ethnic group in Mindanao that the Spaniards encountered towards the end of the nineteenth century. Today, the Bagobo are one of the major indigenous peoples of southern Mindanao, with three sub-groups: the Tagabawa, the Clata or Guiangan, and the Ubo. They, like other tribes, have a diverse and profound textile culture that is also made with smart mathematical design and pattern.
In this picture of the Bagobo cloth, you can see that each of the frieze patterns has a symmetry group of 'mm'. Vertical reflections, horizontal reflections, and 180-degree rotations with centers where the axes overlap are symmetries.
Look at the design of their textile in Bagobo Trousers, Finite designs and various frieze patterns cover the front and continue to the rear of the trousers. Human figures, flowers, x's, and diamond shapes are among the designs.
