The former and current coordinators of the UP Personality and Individual Differences Research Laboratory (UPIRL) were recently interviewed by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, represented by Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs (Research) Dr. Percival F. Almoro last August 16, 2024. The interviewees, Dr. Gregorio del Pilar, founder of the UPIRL, Dr. Adrianne John Galang, former coordinator, and Prof. Christie Sio, present coordinator, offered a rich tapestry of experiences and insights into working within the research laboratory.
To promote the establishment of more research laboratories throughout the various campuses of the university, the interview was conducted and focused on the journey of the laboratory coordinators, particularly their experiences and the challenges they faced. They shared their memorable and unique encounters, turning points in their career, and perspectives and experiences with regard to the significance of mentorship in the field of research.
Reflecting on their roles and the evolution of the laboratory, the past and present leaders share a common thread—a deep commitment to advancing research and a strong passion that drives excellence. The UPIRL, as one of the first research laboratories in the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy, moves forward to encourage the expansion of knowledge through more research laboratories across the campuses.
