The HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised (HEXACO PI-R) is a widely used measure of personality traits, encompassing six dimensions: Honesty-Humility (H), Emotionality (E), eXtraversion (X), Agreeableness (A), Conscientiousness (C), and Openness to Experience (O) (Ashton & Lee, 2007). The need for culturally appropriate versions has prompted the translation and validation of the HEXACO PI-R into various languages, including Filipino (Lee & Ashton, 2008).

The validation of the Filipino translation of the HEXACO PI-R is crucial for accurately assessing personality traits within the Filipino population. The process of translation involves more than linguistic conversion; it necessitates cultural adaptation to ensure conceptual equivalence and cross-cultural validity (Enriquez, 1994 in Yacat, 2013).
By undergoing rigorous translation and validation processes that encompass linguistic accuracy and cultural adaptation, the Filipino HEXACO PI-R ensures conceptual equivalence and cross-cultural validity. This culturally adapted instrument facilitates the assessment of personality traits among Filipinos, contributing to a deeper understanding of personality psychology within the Philippine context.
The primary objective of this study is to collect data to explore the instrument’s (HEXACO Personality Inventory-Revised Filipino Version) psychometric properties, ensuring its accuracy and relevance in capturing personality traits within the Filipino population
The study holds significant social value by addressing the need for culturally appropriate psychological assessment tools, specifically personality assessment tools, in the Philippines. By validating the Filipino version of the HEXACO personality scale, the study aims to contextualize and adapt the scale to better align with Filipino culture, thereby enhancing its relevance and applicability in the local context.
Additionally, by adding to the limited number of available Filipino personality scales, the study contributes to filling a crucial gap in psychological assessment resources specific to the Filipino population.
Through these efforts, both researchers and participants have the opportunity to actively contribute to the creation of a valuable tool for understanding personality traits in the Filipino context, ultimately enriching both psychological research and practice in the Philippines.
