United High School Art Department: #1519/1520 DIGITAL ARTGrades: 9-12 Elective 1 Semester Credit: 0.5Prerequisites: NonePurpose: This course is designed as an art studio course that introduces students to the use of digital technology to create original and unique works of art through a variety of technological tools, programs, and applications.Description: This course is designed to allow students to showcase their creativity through digital media such as photography, photo editing software, computer art programs and applications, among others. This course explores the techniques and applications of acquiring, manipulating, and incorporating digital art media with graphic and design related projects on the computer and other digital technology. Students will address concepts such as photo manipulation, artistic composition through photography, digitally created artwork through multiple applications, and others. Students will utilize digital cameras, scanners and several photo editing software programs and digital drawing tools. Each student will develop a portfolio of their work. Requirements: Students will be required to create original digital art through sources such as photographs, self- made art, and found images.  Grades will be assigned based on technical ability, planning, progress, effort, and class participation, as well as conceptual design.
