Start with the background
Select subjects which present dream-like qualities and contrast with one another/the background. Use a comboniation of magazines, personal photos, printing & photocopying. No plan needed.
Tear, cut, and place around the page before glueing
Tip- Cut out negative space and replace with something irrational. If you use text, it should connect with the visuals.

10 FAMOUS ARTISTS WHO ARE LEADING THE MOVEMENT IN ASIA
Choose 1 artist from the article that interest you the most. Print an example of their artwork.
On your poster, answer the following questions about your surrealist artist:
Where is the artist from- born, raised, current residence?(3-4 sentences)
What inspires their work? (4-5 sentences)
List 3 of their artworks. Describe the mediums, size and what each work looks like. (4-5 sentences for each work) Glue the printed artwork near this section of your poster.

Task: Generate 3 ideas for a surrealist artwork using the challenges below to get you started. Write a short reflection about what worked what didn't or what surprised you. Give each drawing a title.
Try to combine 3 animals with what they eat and make a small drawing of that. For example a rabbit and a carrot.
Try to combine animals with musical instruments objects around the home. The 3 instruments have to be completely different. 1 string (violin/guitar etc) instrument, 1 wind instrument (trumpet, clarinet, flute), and 1 percussion (drum, xylophone, djembe) instrument.
Check if your house is haunted. If so (if not, assume it is), design and draw the creatures that do the unexplainable things in your house, like stealing your socks, making the last bit of toiler disappear when you need it most, hide your keys when you are already late. etc.
Design and draw 2 different things that have a 'shape 'connection, like a toothbrush and a giraffe ( both have long necks) could be the shape of the beak of a toucan.

In this task, you will learn how to combine photos in Photoshop to create a Surrealist photo composite.
What is a Photo Composite? Composite images are made up of two or more photographs, which are combined to create one convincing image. This is what makes it different from a photomontage.
Follow the steps to begin:
Go to Pexels to download three images to work with. These are free to use. You will need at least two images in the digital artwork but we will download three to be safe.
Put the downloaded jpg files into your VA drive folder
Open Photoshop, A4 size (Landscape or Portrait), title your file: Name Surrealism Photo Composite
Insert the portrait photo first to begin by dragging the jpg file from your desktop or downloads.

Search for photos of frogs, hair, fur, leaves, scales of reptiles, snails. Collect a few per category. If you can, gather pictures in high resolution so you can zoom in to analyze the structures, different sides, and poses.
