Examination periods:
Exams can be taken in several sessions during the year. These are the approximate dates (for more precise information, we suggest visiting the academic calendar with the exact dates):
WINTER SESSION: 20 January - 25 February (3 roll calls)
APRIL SESSION (ONLY FOR "FUORI CORSO" STUDENTS): 20 April - 25 April (1 roll call)
SUMMER SESSION: 5 June - 10 July (3 roll calls)
SEPTEMBER: 5 - 25 September (2 roll calls)
NOVEMBER SESSION (ONLY FOR "FUORI CORSO STUDENTS): 10-15 November (1 roll call)
"Fuori corso students" are those who have already completed the two years of master's degree, but still have to take some exams or present the thesis: in order to simplify the completion of their studies, they are allowed to take exams also in two additional sessions in April and November; it means that first and second year students are not allowed to take any exam in these sessions.
Exam booking:
In order to book the exams, students must access their Infostud account and select "Search exam dates". Available roll calls can only be visualized if the student has already created a personal study plan.
On the booking page of Infostud are shown all the available exams of the classes the student participated in: the available exam dates of each course are separated by at least two weeks.
After booking the exam, students must also download the examination booking receipt. On the day of the exam, the student must present a valid ID card and the booking receipt printed out by Infostud, which will be signed by the lecturer at the time of the examination and returned to the student. This receipt is important, since represents the confirmation of the exam completion, and students must collect all of them, as a guarantee if any technical problem with Infostud system would take place.
Exam modalities and regulations:
Exam arrangements depend on the choice of professors: exams can be based on oral examination, as well as written examination; in some cases, professors may organize intermediate examinations during the semester (called in Italian "esoneri") in order to reduce the final exam load.
The grades are on the scale of 30, being 18 the minimum mark, and 30 cum laude the higher one. The marks are important since the average of the marks of the individual examinations defines the final grade with which students arrive at the thesis presentation (for more information, visit the graduation page).
Once accepting the mark, students cannot retake the exam again, and it will directly appear in the Infostud account as soon as the professor has inserted it in the system (at the latest 5 days after the exam).
For those who do not want to accept the mark of an exam, they are allowed to take it again without a maximum number of attempts. It means that even if the classes were in the first semester, students can take the exam in the summer session, after the second semester; if necessary, students can even take an exam the following year (in this case, we suggest contacting the professor to verify if the exam modality has changed).
