Students enrolled in Architecture (Conservation) can go on Erasmus starting from their second year and, even if not recommended (because of the risk of prolonging the study period), they can participate to Erasmus even in the following years.
Students can go to Erasmus to take exams, but also to prepare their theses. In this case, the student will have an Italian tutor (who remains the official one) and a foreign tutor who will follow the research when the student is abroad: the research for a foreign tutor takes place at the hands of the student.
All the activites (exams or thesis, or even both) to carry out abroad must be included in a LEARNING PATH, a table in which the comparison between the Italian and foreign credits is made. The Learning path has to be made before the exchange period begins, but can be modified within a short period after the arrival, and has to be approved by both the Erasmus office of Sapienza and the professor in charge of the agreement.
Usually the application process takes place in February-March, including first and/or second semester of the following year: the call for application can be found in this section of the Faculty website. Please check this page regularly during this period.
In order to know which are the partner institutions of our faculty and for further information regarding the entire process, please take a look at the page of last year, and in particular at the call!

In addition to Erasmus, Sapienza also offers other exchange programs:
An exchange program almost parallel to Erasmus is the "Extra-UE mobility program": this exchange program is based on some agreements between the Faculty of Architecture and some extra-Ue universities, located on all continents, and permits students to take exams and carry out the thesis research abroad. The regulations are almost the same as Erasmus, and a learning agreement is still required. The scholarship is based on semesters (and not in months such as Erasmus), but the final outcome is similar.

For the thesis abroad, there is also another available program, specifically and only meant for thesis, called "Thesis abroad call". In this case, there are not specified universities with which Sapienza has agreements, but each student can participate in the call by searching for an available foreign thesis supervisor.
In this case, the student should already know some professor abroad who is interested in following the thesis research; another option consist of asking to the thesis tutor (or to any other professor) here in Sapienza if he/she knows any professor abroad: many professors have agreements with foreign institutions, and therefore it is possible to find some foreign professor interested in the thesis research of a student enrolled in Sapienza.
