The first step candidates must take in the application process is to submit their pre-selection application through the MoveIn platform.
A pre-selection application is an online application allowing international students to be assessed well before the official Call for Applications is published .
This submission must be completed by the deadline (for the academic year 23/24 the deadline is set on 14 April 2023 for Extra-UE students, and 28 July for European students). After a first pre-verification based on the correctness of documents made by credential evaluators of Sapienza, the application is verified by the course evaluators, who decide whether to accept the candidate or not: even if an application meets all the requirements, it is not certain that we can accept it, since we also have to consider the applications of other students, especially those of the same country.
After being accepted, a candidate receives a pre-acceptance letter, which has to be used for next enrollment steps, and in particular to make the Visa request.
Please visit Sapienza Admission website for further information!
1. COPY OF YOUR VALID PASSPORT (or National Identity Card if you are a EU-citizen)
Please verify that the Passport doesn't expire within the following six months, otherwise it cannot be used.
2. CURRICULUM VITAE
3. PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY
We require an English certificate with minimum level B2: we accept IELTS, TOEFL Ibt, Cambridge Assessment English and TOEIC texts. Proof of English proficiency is not required for native-English speakers or for students who previously attended a bachelor’s degree completely taught in English. In this latter case, candidates must upload a certificate issued by the university which state that the course was entirely taught in English.
4. COPY OF ORIGINAL UNIVERSITY DIPLOMA IN ARCHITECTURE (or temporary substitute for those who have not graduated yet) + TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH OR ITALIAN
We only accept students who graduated in a bachelor's degree in Architecture. If your bachelor's degree is in a specific branch of architecture and you are not sure if it can be accepted or not, please write to architectureconservation@uniroma1.it to inquire whether it can be accepted or not. Bachelor's degrees in Civil Engineering or Building Engineering are not accepted.
Diploma Translation is not required for those students who graduated in a programme taught in English, and for those students that can provide Diploma Supplement.
5. COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL UNIVERSITY TRANSCRIPT OF RECORDS + TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH OR ITALIAN
Transcript of Records is a list of your exams taken, grades earned and final mark at the university. It describes the academic grading system (0-10, 0-100%, 0-20 or 0-4, for example). The minimum grade we accept is 70%; however, as previously explained, this minimum requirement does not mean that all those who reach this grade are automatically accepted.
6. COPY OF YOUR ORIGINAL HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA + TRANSLATION INTO ENGLISH OR ITALIAN
7. PORTFOLIO
Portfolio must have a maximum dimension of 15 pages (and must weigh a maximum of 8 MB). It has to describe your skills in architecture (the projects you made along your previous academic courses, or during your working career, as well as other activities and projects, if you consider them as important). There's no specific requested format, but we recommend using a A3 horizontal size.
- MOTIVATION AND RECOMMENDATION SECTIONS are mandatory in the MoveIn platform: candidates must write a motivation of their interest in applying in Architecture (Conservation), as well as provide the names and contacts of references.
If you graduated in countries belonging to the European Higher Education Area (Bologna Process), we suggest you ask for Diploma Supplement to the university you graduated from, since it comprises all the required information regarding the course.
If your application is ACCEPTED, you will receive the pre-acceptance letter by email, necessary to ask for student Visa.
If your application is NOT ACCEPTED, you will be informed by email.
