Plant Design Competition in Chemical Engineering at Universitas Malikussaleh
The Plant Design Competition (PDC) held by the Chemical Engineering Department at Universitas Malikussaleh has become a significant event, aimed at enhancing students' skills in designing chemical plants and preparing them for the competitive industrial environment. The competition has been conducted four times, each with its own unique highlights and contributions to the students' professional growth. Below is an overview of each competition:
1. Plant Design Competition 2016
The first Plant Design Competition at Universitas Malikussaleh took place in 2016. This inaugural event set the foundation for future competitions, focusing on evaluating the students' abilities to design chemical plants. Participants came from only from Unimal.
2. Plant Design Competition 2019
The second competition was held from June 21-24, 2019. This event saw increased participation from universities such as Universitas Mulawarman, Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, Institut Teknologi Indonesia, Jakarta, Politeknik Negeri Jakarta, Universitas Bung Hatta, and Universitas Malikussaleh itself. The competition featured industry visits and guest lectures, with PT Pupuk Iskandar Muda and PT Perta Arun Gas acting as sponsors and sharing insights on technological advancements in fertilizer processing (UNIMAL News) (Home | Pertamina). 3. National Plant Design Competition III 2021
In 2021, the third iteration of the competition was branded as the "National Plant Design Competition III". Early registration was encouraged, and the event continued to uphold the spirit of fair competition. 4. Plant Design Competition 2023
The fourth competition took place in 2023, once again attracting teams from universities across Indonesia. The event maintained the tradition of including industrial visits and guest lectures.
