This sub-section reviews the importance of assigning the main and alternate risk focal points and guides the profile and how to assign focal points for the risk being assessed.
An individual designated as a risk focal point is responsible for assessing and formulating a risk response design for the chosen risk factor. If the assessed risk exceeds the UNFPA's risk appetite, the risk focal point also oversees the implementation of the appropriate risk response action plan. The ownership of risks forms an integral aspect of our risk response plan, as it ensures that all identified risks are duly acknowledged and monitored.
Risk focal points should be the official accountable to the Head of Office for addressing the identified risk. Risk focal points can be assigned to one or more risk factors. The details about the focal point responsibilities are listed in annexure IV of the ERM Policy.
