This sub-section analyses in detail various factors to consider when assessing the potential impact of the risk if it occurs.
An impact analysis predicts the consequences of disruption of an organisational function and process. It gathers information needed to develop recovery strategies while potential loss scenarios are also identified during a risk assessment.
The impact each risk event could have on the business unit should be assessed. Typically, this assessment considers how the event could impact programmatic, operational, financial and reputational performance objectives. Impacts are not limited to these criteria, however; political or economic consequences may also need to be considered.
An Impact Rating Guidance has been developed to guide the assessment of each risk factor to assess their expected impact on one or more objectives for the relevant Business Unit.
Score the impact of the risk from the drop-down list using this scale: 1 (insignificant), 2 (minor), 3 (moderate), 4 (major), and 5 (very significant) using the detailed guidance below. Document the Impact Justification in the respective tab for all risk factors.
