Simulation
All fellows participate in simulation at the state of the art M Simulation Center. The program hosts 2-4 simulation session per year with both procedure-based and discussion-based cases. Skills addressed through simulation may include:
Airway management
Therapeutic flexible fiber-optic bronchoscopy procedures
Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including paracentesis, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, endotracheal intubation, and related procedures
Placement and management of chest tubes and pleural drainage systems
Operation of bedside hemodynamic monitoring systems
Emergency cardioversion
Critical care ultrasound, including image acquisition, image interpretation, and intracavitary tubes and catheters
Pericardiocentesis
Placement of percutanenous tracheostomies
Indications, contraindications, and complications of placement of arterial, central venous, and pulmonary artery balloon flotation catheters
Breaking bad news
