Beginning in the 24-25 academic year, the smaller one-year Critical Care Fellowship Programs (Critical Care Anesthesiology, IM Critical Care Medicine, Neurocritical Care, and Surgical Critical Care) joined forces to create a multi-disciplinary conference. This two-hour conference takes place weekly and includes two areas of focus (one in the first hour and another in the second hour). Lecture topics cover the full breadth of Critical Care are determined based upon ACGME program requirements as well as the board exam blueprints for these specialties.

The IM CCM program will support conference attendance with up to $2000 and 5 protected days. In addition, the program regularly applies for and receives grant funding to provide additional financial support for fellows to attend national conferences. We currently have an active grant that allows fellows to attend the AHA Scientific Sessions conference (in addition to the $2000 support for other conference attendance) Fellows are able to attend 1-2 conferences per academic year during. Conferences that trainees may consider attending include, but are not limited to the following:
Typically hosted in the fall by the AHA, this conference is focused on the latest innovations for scientists, clinicians, researchers and other healthcare professionals interested in any and all aspects of cardiovascular disease.
Typically hosted in the spring by ACC, this conference is an opportunity for cardiovascular professionals to come together to debate and discuss practice-changing science and innovations.
Typically hosted in the fall by CHEST, this conference brings together key experts in topics such as: artificial intelligence in health care and medical education, new guidelines on biologics for severe asthma, addressing the vaping epidemic, therapeutics for advanced COPD, sleep disorders in critically ill patients. Pre-meeting courses are offered for both advanced and foundational learning.
ELSO hosts several meetings each year, with their annual conference typically hosted in the fall. Conference highlights have included: international representation, pediatric and adult ECMO specialist sessions, ECMO in resource-limited areas, pre-hospital ECMO, perfusion fireside chat.
Typically hosted in late winter by SCCM, which is the only multiprofessional organization dedicated exclusively to critical care, the Critical Care Congress is an opportunity to explore the latest knowledge and research in critical care and network with experts, colleagues, and peers.
Typically hosted in the winter by STS, this conference is the premier annual event in cardiothoracic surgery, unveiling never-before-seen science, techniques, and technology, and creating a forum to build lasting connections with colleagues.
