Epich Advising: Roles and Resources

Team-based advising model

The Division's advising model matches first and second-year students with Faculty Advisors based on shared interests and Student Services staff based on academic programs. Through this model, peer mentoring will also be utilized. Faculty Advisors guide exploring public health interests and Student Services staff supports degree planning, logistics, and progression. Our goal is to provide a consistently high level of advising experiences for our students through the collaboration of School and University partners, services, and student groups.

Team Approach to Advising

The Division of Epidemiology and Community Health uses a team model approach to academic advising and mentoring.

How it works:

Group Advising:

Interest Area Group Advising Meetings led by Faculty Advisor (Two per semester)

Program Meetings led by Program Director and Student Services (One per semester)

Scheduled Monthly Open Advising Hours hosted by Student Services (Graduate Program Coordinator)

Individual Advising:

Individual meetings with Faculty Advisors as needed (faculty advisors are available by appointment)

Student Services staff are available to meet by appointment and during Scheduled Monthly Open Drop-in Hours.
