Health researchers from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) are under-represented in the global health literature. In addition to systemic inequities and power imbalances between high-income countries and LMICs, researchers from LMICs often lack formal training in research project management and in publishing peer-reviewed research, further inhibiting these researchers from publishing their work.
To address this gap, PREPSS offers the Author Training Program, which provides manuscript development and support services to authors around the world who are part of large, grant-funded research projects. PREPSS offers workshops and webinars on scientific writing, how to structure research articles, designing effective tables and figures, using AI for copyediting, writing conference abstracts, preparing presentations for academic conferences, and other topics. PREPSS also offers high-quality pre-publication peer review support from our network of over 150 peer reviewers to directly support authors with their research manuscripts. The goal of this program is to strengthen the writing and publishing capacity of researchers to improve their articles for successfully publication in peer-reviewed journals.

Current and former countries with whom PREPSS has partnered for the Author Training Program
PREPSS partners with institutions (e.g. grant-funded research projects, academic institutions, research centers, etc.). We do not partner with individual authors.
Research teams are typically based in low- or middle-income countries (LMICs).
Researchers should be preparing original research manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
Ideal for first-time or early-career authors who may lack access to formal writing or publishing support.
Authors should be willing to participate in virtual or in-person training sessions.
Authors should be willing to engage in multiple rounds of pre-publication peer review.
